The national hurricane center reported a couple of minutes ago that the north-west eyewall of the storm will pass over NO in about an hour.

"Ed Reams of WDSU: Daylight seen through roof of Superdome. Reporter has sense a big piece is about
to "peel off." Something like a 1/12th slice of the pie."

Keep in mind that churches and orphanages lost roofs in the Galveston hurricane and many inside were able to survive. They got wet, and some had to swim for it, but the heavy walls protected them from the flying debris.

Brian Williams from NBC seeing daylight inside the dome, Nat'l Guard moving refugees under second tier overhangs.

I guess people are moving away. This CNN reporter is explaining it pretty well.

Can you imagine the people inside and their reactions as rain and wind find their way in. Here's hoping the breach isn't large enough for a gust to really lift the roof off. Although time will be a major factor in the strength now, with a roof breach.

"New Orleans Hyatt, he says the upper 25th story windows are now shattering. "

The weather service also said in their report that those tall buildings will be swaying. I would not want to be in there today!!

When I woke up I thought they were saying it would be better now because it had moved a little and it's a cat 4 instead of 5.

So it's still not good huh?

The Saints have been getting blown away in the Super Dome
for 40 years and they survived.

"My family looks to be getting the worst of this storm. My dad lives in Long Beach MS...right in the eye's way it appears. My sister lives in Hancock county, also getting the worst of it."

Oh dear, many prayers sent for all.

Is your dad's house close to the beach? Or your sister?

Regardless, I will pray for them. But hope they are far away from the storm surge, or got to higher ground.
