Trent Lott on Fox now. I understand his being there since he is the senator from Miss. but if he tries to hawk his new book...as he has been doing all week...I'll hurl.

Unfortunately the worst part of this thing is still to come over NO.

That's not a good sign.

CNBC's pumping the gas shortage line. Oil is up 3.17 from yesterday, now at 69.30.

I recall hearing that the entire stadium is about 25 feet ABOVE sea level - one of the reasons they named it as a refuge

The field is way below the level of the entrances.

My mother used to joke about people not having enough sense to come in out of the rain--Harrigan meets that description....

That should have been a part of and implemented during the first stages of emergency planning.

I know a lot about the pumps, did a special research paper on them in grad school.

Just can't remember the power source.

They are huge. If I recall correctly there are about 14 of them, about 12 ft in diameter. They are called "Wood screw pumps" designed by a guy named Wood.

Just one of these pumps is used to drain the Zuider Zee in the Netherlands.

Google "wood screw pump" and you will find a lot but you will have to go into Google cache as the power for the servers is out in NO. Thank Google for Google cache.

Exact same safe room chosen here. I went into it once when we had tornado watch in effect and the noise sounded like a freight train.

You went away and left me long time ago
And now you're knocking on my door

I hear you knocking
But you can't come in

I hear you knocking
Go back where you've been

I begged you not to go but you said goodbye
And now you're telling me all your lies

I hear you knocking
But you can't come in

I hear you knocking
Go back where you've been

Ahhh yeah
Let me hear it
Ohhooo woo
OOhh

You better get to your use-to-be
'Cause your kind of love ain't good to me

I hear you knocking
But you can't come in

I hear you knocking
Go back where you've been

I told you way back in 52
That I would never go with you

I hear you knocking
But you can't come in

I hear you knocking
Go back where you've been

I let Charles go.

We are doing fine. I just showered, washed hair with delicious hot water, have another cup of coffee, am moisturized, made up with lipstick even, so I am good to go. You never know when the power leaves you showerless for days.

Haven't seen ellisu but the wind sort of comes and goes here as does rain. It is like a bad tropical storm.

I don't know about mandatory evac orders, but I imagine that everywhere near the coast has been getting earnest pleas to evacuate for days now.

The building is some 200 feet high. The winds at higher elevations are significantly more intense than ground level.

NO getting spared the worst, only means they get a Cat 3 instead of a Cat 4. Still a lot of trouble.
