Well, NO dodged the worst.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, looks like levees are failing right and left at this point.

WBRZ is reporting that 125 people in the 9th Ward have had to climb up onto the roofs of their homes due to rising water. The 9th ward is surrounded on three sides by water. This is probably close to the levee breach at Tennessee St. at the Industrial Canal.

My mom remembers seeing galvanizing slice off someone's head in a really bad storm.

I don't know if Harrigan would notice if it happened to him.

Daughter just called and said windows of Times Picayune building blew out and the times is exposed to the elements.

It is windy here in gusts then strangely still. Not that bad except for the tree worries. We still have power.

Yeah but Harrigan is entertaining. Better than Geraldo who must be steaming that he's stuck in Aruba or wherever the heck he is.

I think they should create Hurricane Test Dummies..like the ones used in Car Crashes..it is ridiculous to see so little value put on the health, saftey and lives of peon newscasters and cameramen at Fox.

"But I just read on the screen that a levee has failed in New Orleans.....So who's right?"

That's what I said. FOX's Shep reports one NO levee failed.

(NO = New Orleans)

I don't care if he plays out in the storm. He's a big boy. I just don't like watching him "fixing to get it"

From thread "Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part VII" #274 of 2,175:

Not a bad way to learn on FR, just ask, and 4 people step up to the plate and deliver!
And a fifth one who stepped up as I was already posting my thank-yous...
Along with a helpful soul who graciously provided information by private FReepermail...

Yes, it's wonderful to get that kind of helpful response,
but I sure hope I'm not leaving anybody out when I express my gratitude,
This is a very fast moving thread, and my bifocals have a tough time keeping up with it all!!!
