Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part VI
NOAA - NHC ^ | 28 August 2005 | NOAA - NHC

Posted on 08/28/2005 2:38:16 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.

Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

He isn't looking for a pat on the back.
He's trying to reassure folks they are "all in it together" - that the poor aren't getting screwed - that they all have a passage ticket.

Thank God for Geraldo and his moustache.

Without Geraldo, I would be unable to capture the emotion and drama that is undoubtedly present in NOLA.

When Shep gets out of the confessional booth (It's been a while, geeze?!) at St. Louis Cathedral, he can take back the reins from my hero, Geraldo Riveria.

Prayers for all of you in the path of Katrina and hopes that everyone is safe. But all of us are suffering the hot air reports of Geraldo. He is a bigger blowhard than the hurricane!

What is the latest estimate for the number of people still in New Orleans for this storm? Last I heard was 100,000.

"Geraldo can be annoying at times - but I've got a soft spot for him from back when he was just a street reporter in NYC back in the early 70s."

So did I. Until he started on FOX. He is too much of a sensationalist for me. Male Rita Cosby.

The mayor said it is down to 140mph to Geraldo. They are trying to confirm this.

Just for information to anyone interested! ;-)

Jimmy Driftwood wrote it.
Johnny Horton made it #1 in 1959.

I didn't hear that it was down to 140 mph. The person talking to Geraldo said 140 mph would be a lot better, not that it was there.

The mayor sounds tired.

She will have a lot of time when this term expires. Her re-election chances will bust with the levee.
