Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

In Nineteen and Fifty-Nine we took a little hike,
With our scout master down to Lake Anigganike.
We took a little pizza and we took some sauerkrauts,
And we marched along together 'til we heard the girl scouts.
Chorus:
We're the boys from Camp Kookamonga,
Our mothers sent us here for to study nature's ways.
We learn to make sparks by rubbing sticks together,
But if we catch the girls, then we'll set the woods ablaze!
(...and I was mad 'cause me mother sent me up here... hahahaha!)
Well, we crept up to the water and we seed the girls a-swimmin',
There must have been a hundred of them pretty young women.
They looked so fine, even birds forgot to sing,
We laid down in the poison oak, an' didn't say a thing.
Chorus:
We're the boys from Camp Kookamonga,
Our mothers sent us here for to study nature's ways.
We learn to make sparks by rubbing sticks together,
But if we catch the girls, then we'll set the woods ablaze!
(Hey, will one of you fellers scratch my back?)
Well our counsellor said we could take 'em by surprise,
If we didn't say a word 'til we looked 'em in the eyes.
We kept a real still, an' we kept our eyes a-glued,
We saw how they were dressed, they were swimmin' in the... WELL NOW...
Chorus:
We're the boys from Camp Kookamonga,
Our mothers sent us here for to study nature's ways.
We learn to make sparks by rubbing sticks together,
But if we catch the girls, then we'll set the woods ablaze!
Well, they ran through the briars an' they ran through the brambles,
An' they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go.
They ran so fast, even we couldn't catch 'em,
From Lake Anigganike, all the way to Buffalo!
(Ahey, fellers! Wait for me!)
Well we ran right after them 'til everyone was pooped,
So we rested for a minute and our forces we'd regroup.
Then we saw the girls, behind some evergreens,
Captured by a company of United States Marines.
Chorus:
We're the boys from Camp Kookamonga,
Our mothers sent us here for to study nature's ways.
We learn to make sparks by rubbing sticks together,
But if we catch the girls, then we'll set the woods ablaze!
(Ah, them big guys get everything...)
Well, they ran through the briars an' they ran through the brambles,
An' they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go,
They ran so fast, even we couldn't catch 'em,
From Lake Anigganike, all the way to Buffalo!
Scoutmaster: A-rooty-toot-toot!
Scouts: A-rooty-toot-toot!
We are the boys from the Boy Scout troup!
We don't smoke, and we don't chew,
And we don't go with the girls that do!
Ooh! Arthur!
Ooh! Ooh!
I can't remember Dante mentioning a hurricane as punishment. This must be a new ring.
Someone else may have said this (I'm catching up...) but I heard them say (either MSNBC or FNC) they had 360,000 MREs from the National Guard. I forget the number of cots they quoted.
Actually it is the idea of being in a closed up space with no power, no air conditioning, and thousands of hysterically scared people that freaks me out.
Chris Matthews calling it a catastrophe of biblical proportions.
chris matthews IS a catastrophe of biblical proportions

Thank you, Normal. Yours was the 3rd confirming response. I will change my ways--your 'aerodynamics' explanation makes it very clear: wind IN/roof OFF!

Him, too? He stole that from Geraldo! LOL
I wonder if Janice Dean has family that refused to leave or she is romantically involved with somebody reporting or working in the storm area.
That's it! LOL!
Per WWL---
across coast 70 mph winds; N.O. has sustained 40 mph winds;stronger winds coming;water moving into Lake Pontchartrain;6 inches rain Grand Isle other areas 8; eye still moving nnw--center is now west of mouth of Miss river--Venice;eye still 120 miles from Venice--170 miles from N.O.; tropical winds extend out 140 miles; hurricane winds extend out 100 miles;vertical evacuation--higher you go higher the winds; shouldn't go up more than minimaum to escape flooding--a lot of debris will be flying. Surprised no tornados and no western shearing;now going over 88-90 degree water to the coast, which will cause strengthening.Turn should take place around Grand Isle which puts the eye through middle of N.O.
Matthews is the King of Tripe!
They definitely don't need alcohol, people get weird on that stuff.
They get a hell of a lot weirder when they are detoxing.
Oh, Lord. It's been a while since I've been down there. On the haunted one... I believe that is near Thibodaux or north of there. There are many gorgeous plantation areas along the river toward New Orleans from Luling... an area, I believe that is in danger.
there is going to be a federal bailout of the insurance industry if it plays out like that.
Your baaadd! lol
Probably at minimum at least 20-30 miles to the west, 30-50 miles on the east, according to the LSU professor who studied and modeled this. But who really knows?
Geraldo beat him by about 15 minutes on that term. He said the same thing earlier.
