It looks like I am OK here in the Houston area. This is a great idea, Howlin.

Pelican Five lives on Wilson Road in Folsom, Louisiana between the cities of Covington and Hammond. Although I have a "Folsom" address, I actually reside in Tangipahoa parish because Folsom is the nearest Post Office to my home.
I am located between the cities of Hammond and Covington.

I am working at the Joint Operations Center for the National Guard, currently at Jackson Barracks, but I don't know for how much longer I will be here before we make a move to another place. I work the night shift so I don't know what plans are being made right now.

Trust me that we are planning and preparing for every thing that we can conceive might occur. Our efforts and resources may be overcome by a higher power on a temporary basis.

I did the same duty for Hurricane Andrew and worked for 21 straight days in what amounted to 20 hour shifts. The only way I got relief was because I had to go overseas for a preplanned tour of duty to Belgium.

It is my job and I can't imagine me doing anything else. Fortunately, my wife understands and does what any military wife does - copes.

Well, I'm a lot older than when we use to do this "back when" and I can't remember anymore who says what.....I figured, let's get them all in one place where we can go back and check on people.

Glad you're safe!

Boarding up and battening down here in Baton Rouge. We expect to get the western side of this beast and hope to keep our heads above water.

No problem at all.

Maybe I didn't put it very well; let's just let this thread be about the PEOPLE we're praying for.

Thanks.

All's quiet in Baton Rouge so far. Will post periodically with updates. Glad I'm not on the Mississippi gulf coast or in New Orleans.

My son is in the WI National Guard and is currently stationed at Camp Shelby, MS for overseas training. If anyone hears anything about Camp Shelby I would surely appreciate it if you would let me know. I can't get ahold of him; all I know is that they are battening down and staying put.
