Last I heard, Askel5 lives in New Orleans.

Our thoughts go with her.

Signing in from Sorrento, LA. Heading to the shelter in an hour or so

Glad to hear you're taking shelter. We're all praying and hoping the best for all of you!

Thanks for the information.

He just called! They are staying put but battening down the hatches. They will be staying in one-story concrete barracks for the duration.

They have been ordered to fill rucksacks with 3 days worth of stuff for possibile mobilization to aid civilians in the area, up to & including medical care (he's a medic.)

I've mapped out the locations that I've received for various FReepers. I've placed them on a Google Earth map and overlayed the latest hi-res reflectivity radar as well as the lastest NHC forecasted storm tracks. (1445 EDT) I'll be off the Internet for a few hours, but when I return I'll update and post a new map. This is a larger graphic because this is not a high use hurricane thread and it needed to be large enought to include the FReeper names at their locations. I may color code FReeper map points based upon whether they've checked in after the storm hits.

Light Blue=NHC
Dark Blue=GFDL
Orange=UKMET
Yellow=A98E
Light Green=BAMD
Green=BAMM
Gray=LBAR

Mother, Father, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 aunts and an uncle, 20+ neices & nephews & cousins, all now safe and sound in the Baton Rouge area.

My prayers are all dedicated to the safety of the people in the storm area. This looks like the storm they have been expecting for 50 years.

Mega-PING for all FReepers in the hurricane's path to check in! (if at all possible, and AFTER you're safe!?)

(pinging my 4 lists - sorry for the off-topic - we worry about you all! and sorry if you received multiple pings if you are on more than 1 list...)

See Map on post #68 by Spiff.

We're north of Covington, appx. 50mi+ north of New Orleans. I have most windows boarded up, gas for my generator, stocks of food & water etc.

We've spent the day moving lawn furniture, potted plants, took down the porch swing & took blades off the porch ceiling fans.

Traffic out of NOLA is still very heavy.

There'll be 6 of us here for the duration.
Send your prayers & hope it loses strength.
