Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico. Mandatory evacuation of New Orleans is finally underway. Louisiana officials are warning of complete failure to levy systems, and pleading with people to leave low lying areas. For those who choose to stay, they are recommending picks and axes for breaking through to access their roofs during flooding.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be rushing hurricane preparations to completion.

What's quite amazing to me...is here in the Orlando area...we are having windy squalls from Katrina right now. For the last two days the clouds overhead have been racing by from the southeast non-stop...it's pouring rain now with the sun shining.
Quote "Looks like the Judgment Of God may be finally falling on the Big Easy. One of the most sinful cities in the United States. Judgment that will affect the entire country!"
I feel sorry for people who believe crap like that.
Yeah God is about to punish New Orleans for their sins.
please insert major rolling eyes here
Perhaps your house will fall in next? You have sinned right? Perhaps you are one of those non-sinning Christians.
Keep studying the pic I posted in latest mandatory evacuation thread. The hurricane is even sucking air mass all the way up from Canada! If you study the image you can easily see the visible air mass(cloud rotation) is in the shape of a swan with the head in Canada facing west, with it's beak dipping into the top of Minnesota and the neck is being sucked into the hurricanes rotational pull. Wiiiiiild! I am absolutely mesmerized, transfixed on this hurricane. It's surreal in fantasy story style, playing out before our eyes like Bowie riding the tornado.
Yeah, I told my wife that last night when I woke her up getting into bed. The military can move lots of people fast. You load them onto cattle cars, 5 ton flatbed trailers, deuce and a halfs and pack them in like cattle. They should have mobilized a couple of days ago. Very bad performance.
God bless and have mercy on those remaining in that stupid bowl.
Yes, the gov said she received a call from President Bush this morning urging her to call for mandatory evac.
OMG.......just unbelieveable.
Do they have scuba divers?
We may be about to find out.
Well Doc....you take care of yourself.
Lets not forget the aligators...
Who said gusts to 250? I don't think so.
NHC says 215 gusts.
It goooes to eleven
WC's Mike Seidel now in Mobile
I visited NO on my first trip to the US way back in 1976. Praying for you from Scotland.
Get lost, loser.
Are you actually blaming our President for not taking over the situtation in New Orleans? When New Orleans officials have known about this for days, when there is not only a mayor, but a govenor and national guard there? Are you saying our President should manage weather driven disasters and usurp the responsibility of the local authorities?
That's what I've been screaming.
Not to worry, the mayor thinks Bush will save them..:(
sw
Wow..... small tank.
