Adam, Eve and T. Rex
LA Times ^ | 8/27/05 | Ashley Powers

Dinny the roadside dinosaur has found religion. The 45-foot-high concrete apatosaurus has towered over Interstate 10 near Palm Springs for nearly three decades as a kitschy prehistoric pit stop for tourists. Now he is the star of a renovated attraction that disputes the fact that dinosaurs died off millions of years before humans first walked the planet.

Dinny's new owners, pointing to the Book of Genesis, contend that most dinosaurs arrived on Earth the same day as Adam and Eve, some 6,000 years ago, and later marched two by two onto Noah's Ark. The gift shop at the attraction, called the Cabazon Dinosaurs, sells toy dinosaurs whose labels warn, "Don't swallow it! The fossil record does not support evolution."

The Cabazon Dinosaurs join at least half a dozen other roadside attractions nationwide that use the giant reptiles' popularity in seeking to win converts to creationism. And more are on the way.

"We're putting evolutionists on notice: We're taking the dinosaurs back," said Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis, a Christian group building a $25-million creationist museum in Petersburg, Ky., that's already overrun with model sauropods and velociraptors.

"They're used to teach people that there's no God, and they're used to brainwash people," he said. "Evolutionists get very upset when we use dinosaurs. That's their star."

The nation's top paleontologists find the creation theory preposterous and say children are being misled by dinosaur exhibits that take the Jurassic out of "Jurassic Park."

"Dinosaurs lived in the Garden of Eden, and Noah's Ark? Give me a break," said Kevin Padian, curator at the University of California Museum of Paleontology in Berkeley and president of National Center for Science Education, an Oakland group that supports teaching evolution. "For them, 'The Flintstones' is a documentary."

In other words, nothing but opinions. Right. I repeat my prior question.

(Sigh) Other than fossil, geological and dating evidence, what kind of evidence are you looking for? A burning bush, maybe?

You know, the Bible is not a science book, but it is a book that explains where creation came from, and how we fit in all of this

As does every other man-written holy book. Why should believe the Bible over, say, the Koran?

Where is all of this scientific evidence you have to back up your assertions? You keep speaking about these, but I see no proof.

What would you like me to prove, scientifically?

You come with statements/theories that other men have devised, created, fabricated over the years, but I am not seeing any of the hard irrefutable facts, that you like to speak about.

Of course you don't, and you never will. Because you don't want to. You're rather believe a book written by bronze-age goat herders than your own eyes.

You started this discussion because you do not want to consider the possiblilty, that evidence exists, showing humans and dinosaurs might have existed at the same time.

No such evidence exists.

You know, I confess, there is much discussion among many experts on this subject, with some saying that here is something that proves it was true, and there are others that are out there disagreeing.

There is no such discussion among experts. Whoever told you that there are any serious scientists out there who believe that dinosaurs and humans coexisted is lying to you.

Again, I ask for your evidence that is was not possible that they co-existed together.

Start with the fossil record

Did human coexist with dinosaurs?

How good is the young earth argument?

Then, if you have any questions about evolution, how old the earth is or any other issues dealing with the creationism/evolution debate, check out Patrick Henry;s List-O-Links

Of course, I doubt you'll ever look at these links. Few creationists ever do,

Interesting. I have heard that term "gap" but was not sure what it specifically referred to.

I do think it is interesting the extraordinary way the attempt is made to claim 'became' is used in "unusual situation if the context requires it,". Isaiah 45:18 would most definitely fit specific cause for the usage of that verb became.

Ezekiel 28:12- 18 took place before the days of creation.

The earth presents the evidence that man in the flesh was not on this earth at the time of the dinos. Got to go with the evidence, it fits with the so called "unusual situation if the context requires it".

The "Gap Theory" is not supported by Scripture. The earth did not "become" without form and void, it "was" without form and void.

Sin did not destroy a pre-Adamic world.

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Satan rebelled some time after Adam and Eve were created.

Jude 6 "And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home-these he kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgement on the great day."

2 Peter 2:4 "For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but sent them to Tartarus, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgement;"

Isaiah 14:12 "How you have fallen from heaven O morning star, son of dawn! You have been cast down to the Earth, you who once laid low the nations!.......verse 16; Is this the man who shook the Earth....verse 17; the man who made the world a desert,"

So, all this happened after Adam was created????

Isaiah 45:18 "For this is what the Lord says- He who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the Earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-"

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning....when? The beginning! God created the heavens and the Earth. Now the Earth was formless and "EMPTY". Direct contradiction here...unless you properly translate the Hebrew word "Hayah" as became, like it is translated in Genesis 19:26 "She became a pillar of salt!" When you use "Became as the verb in Genesis 1:2 it then allows any length of time you would desire between the first and second verse. Time perhaps for Satan and a third of the angels of heaven to rebel against the government of God and be cast down to the Earth. Luke 10:18 "He replied, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

The six day creation in Genesis is describing what God is doing after the desolation caused by the rebellion of Satan and his angels in the prior creation......which by the way, could have included prehistoric animals.....after all, it was pre-history.

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Satan is not a man....and yes he did sin in the prior creation. See post #407....and it is scriptural. It may not agree with your theology or that of mainstream Chritianity...but it is scriptural.

Guess we can't discuss this topic without some fervent devotee of both macro-evolution and atheism taking a cheap swipe at people who believe God's Word, either.

Pointing out the fact that it is dishonest to equivocate evolution with atheism is a "cheap swipe"? Suddenly it's not fair for us to expose the lies of the creationist side?

The dating evidence? You mean you've dated fossils. Or do you wish to play that game of the layers are dated by the fossils and the fossils by the layers. Etc. Been there done that. Comes right down to it, what you call evidence is an opinion projected onto your fossils and offered pretensiously as proof. Try again.

Nobody needs the love of Mary to give their soul peace, that's Jesus' role.

If you are going to relate Jesus to mortal man, you have got a problem with that virgin birth thing.

I am Christian and the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are NOT literal trees.

Then how did Eve and Adam sin???

I'm Jewish, and most Jews that I know don't interpret the Bible literally.

Maybe you need a wider circle of friends...

Did Moses REALLY strike a rock to get water out?

Did God REALLY rain down fire and brimstone on Sodom?

Did His finger REALLY write on stone tablets and a wall?
