Hurricane warnings and watches are posted. Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast models continue to converge upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this very large and dangerous storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. There have been reports of coastal animals leaving in droves for higher ground. Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to suggest that residents evacuate.

"wonder if they've revised the sea level for Houston since I was in school several decades ago. Back then they taught us Houston was 6-10 feet below sea level"

If Houston were below sea level, it would need the same type levee system that NO has. Houston is very close to sea level but not below it

I don't know that they plan on getting out. They might have decided to stick it out.

I'm reminded of the best hurricane-related quote I've ever heard. It came from some South Texas sheriff who was forecasted to be hit by a Cat 5 hurricane (it weakened and petered out as a Cat 2). He said.

"My deputies are urging everyone to leave and passing out toe tags for anyone who decides to stay."

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God! Your standing will be fine as long as you seek Him. He will come to you if open the door! For I stand at the door and knock anyone who opens it I will come in! Sometimes life can get us caught up in things and at times it can slow us down from our first Love!

Pray about the face you saw!

In my watching of the satellite:

Eye is just NE of the latest forcast maker that marks the projected path.

It appears to crazy me that she is pulling from the bottom of the trough that is coming in from the west. As if she is feeding off of it.

Pulling the clouds ahead of the trough south and into herself is what I meant.

Here is the NASA picture I was talking about were it looks like a huge outer band way passed the hurricane, from Maryland/Pennsylvania north, to, east of the Bahamas east, to south, south of the Yucatan peninsula, then, west coast of Mexico, Texas, and through OKL.

The women who are currently on the weather channel are not able to cover this with the proper degree of seriousness. It's like they were schooled in the "cheerfl morning person" mode of weather reporting and can't talk any other way.

the storm/eye is so wide even if it goes over NO.. the MS coast would still be in the far right eyewall with Cat 3 winds....
