Hurricane warnings and watches are posted. Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast models continue to converge upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this very large and dangerous storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. There have been reports of coastal animals leaving in droves for higher ground. Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to suggest that residents evacuate.

OMG...I'm ALMOST speechless. The governor said that President Bush called and told them to order mandatory evac of NO. THAT is apparently when it was decided.
Listening to them ...I hear the twilight zone theme in the background.
These people are idiots!
I am just sick. We are going to witness the worst natural disaster in American history and there's not a damn thing we can do about it.
Too late now.
I got that impression too. Amazing.
Me too.
These ain't the folks you want around in a time of crisis. They are acting so apathetic, so casual! They don't seem to give a sh*t! They are talking about this with no sense of urgency!
They have gridlock in the city and the outerbands are now hitting the outerbanks.
They need the National Guard in there to help now.
When are they going to get a clue and open the opposite lanes of the I-10 to outbound traffic? Mississippi already has, what's Louisiana waiting for?

fyi--my mother just called after a road trip from NY to FL. Said the convoys of utility trucks were amazing...NJ, PA, etc. were all enroute.
"Between the governor and the mayor--I am sputtering..."
Hate to say it, but it's liberal government at its worst. Totally reactive, never proactive. I've been praying for God to protect us not only from Katrina, but also from Blanco and Nagin.
Nat. Guard General up now. Let's put him in charge!
I think I'm going to cry ...
Well, nobody can say you didn't do your part in warning them; you've been beating the NO drum for DAYS now.
