Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
I just sent another e-mail to every single e-mail address that Fox has. I let them know that they on the Crawford story today they have failed "fair and balanced" reporting. The only thing the Beltway Boys had to say was another mention of Ms. Sheehan, but nothing said at all about today's rally of thousands who gathered in SUPPORT of our President, our troops and their mission. I'm beyond angry, I'm furious!
I wish I had stopped to get names. I asked a few people if they were Freepers too. The young man in the white shirt got into a VERY heated argument with the driver of one of the "peace vans"... I heard him yell at a vet that he should know better and to take "that hat off".
Watching abc natl news now, lead story is Katrina supposedly "Thousands decend on Crawford in protest of peace mom"

WTH?! If we made national news (which we should) this would be a great thing and maybe word would get back to our troops that we do support them and people like sheehan are a very small minority in this nation.
Fred Barnes was right on Friday during special report when he said the whole sheehan story was media driven and there was nothing to it.. he said that there is no great movment rising because of her - that this whole thing has recieved attention only because the media hates bush, its august and they needed somthing to do. Mort and jeff birmbaum (especially jeff) dropped their jaws. It was fabulous. :)
Tom "Earnhardt" Eaker hisself.......?!?!?!?
And Jim Rob found his way to Crawford after all......the wrong turn in Albuquerque wasn't that bad after all.
Good pics !
That's great, Txbec! I bet it was moving. :o)
Post what pictures you can, please.
Thanks, Bec! Nice picture!
I checked, and Mrs. Kondracke died at the age of 64 on July 22, 2004.
I dont much care about a hurricane that wont be here for another 36 hours. We see hurricanes hit the US coast every year. Every year, you guys and every other news channel drag out some reporter, plop his or her butt on the beach and roll tape. Every year we see the winds, the waves, the rain, the floods, the hapless idiots who ride it out yeah, yeah, we get it, ok?! Hurricanes hurt. They have been since recorded time.
Likewise, I care little about either of these over-reported non-news stories:
Natalee Holloways disappearance in Aruba- Tragic, yes. Newsworthy, hardly. OVER REPORTED- definitely. This story is D-E-A-D and has been for over a month. Please catch up with the rest of us and inform Greta to pack it in.
Any celebrity news nonsense- I dont care about news of narcissistic people who live in a dream world. I dont care about Russell Crowe and his temper tantrum telephone throw. I dont care about Olivia and her lost mystery boyfriend and I sure as hell dont care about seeing a millionaire pedophile with bleached skin and an army of lawyers continue to get free publicity.
Heres what I (and I dare say a majority of Americans) care about. I care about the fact that not a single media outlet, including yours, covered the Counter-protest against Cindy Sheehan and her handlers today other than very briefly, and even then using only some taped video and stock background of Crawford.
This is a big story of national scale and importance that requires your attention. What happened to fair and balanced? Sheehan gets wall to wall coverage for the past three weeks, abuses her sons good honor to gain international attention, becomes a propagandist for our enemies and yet, when challenged by a large turnout of Americans supporting our President and the troops in harms way, it draws no live coverage of any substance.
This womans actions in Crawford are having a direct effect on troop morale and embolden our enemies. We are at war, remember? The story of Americans overwhelmingly against Cindy Sheehan and her handlers deserves more than a fleeting quip or a ticker comment at the bottom of your screen. At a minimum, this story should garner the same attention as the non-stories you keep going on with ad nausea hour after hour.
Get it together, Fox! Youre slipping badly!!
P.S.- We already have a CNN. We dont need or want another one.
I've seen 5 year old's who were more convincing than this.
That sure looks like a high-end hippie wagon. What happened to the old VW Microbus?
LOL. I like that one too. My father-in-law, died about 6 yrs. ago. He was a Vietnam vet and one of the things that he talked about was how the vets were treated. I wish he could see this outpouring of affection for the troops. It would really have done him good.
rentals, don't you know
Damn! I missed it. I was on CNN most of the early afternoon after I got fed up waiting for FOX to cover the story. Just as I move to CNN I find out they've aired the story and I missed it. Damn skippy!
Also asked if Pat Robertson should be censored.
I see we are up to over 1400 posts. Any ideas on how many viewing this thread so far?
Thank you so much for your beautiful signs~~!!!!
< Let's face it, Fox News is becoming the "National Enquirer" of cable news. Their promos for tonight is for two hours of news from Aruba.
