Wow...nothing ever happens here. Just riots, fires, floods, earthquakes and the occasional shuttle landing in the wee hours of the morning. I feel left out. *pout*

Seriously though, hope you all are safe & dry. Best wishes and God bless.

Last I heard on the Weather Channel, FPL ( Florida Power And Light ) reported 2.4 million people without power. Sounds like the Democrats.

What a storm projection. It looks more like a wild guess. I still don't believe the storm is going to take the sharp north turn they think it will.

Wow, just got up 30 minutes ago...here in the Lower Keys, surprised the heck out of me to see Katrina 50 miles NE of Key West. Winds gusting to 65-70 mph and some real heavy bands of rain moving through. What a beautiful morning.

Oh, crap! If Katrina stays on track, it looks like Perdido Key and Pensacola are gonna get hit again!

Checking in from Homestead, FL. Had some pretty impressive winds and heavy rains. Right now, we are flooded. Three of 4 sides to my house are completely under water. Between the high water and trees down, nobody is going anywhere anytime soon.

Obviously we have electricity and phone in some areas here, however, strangly, we do not have water. Just barely a trickle coming out.

Prayers for the safey of everyone also impacted by Kitrana.

My wife just stuck her head in and asked if I knew what was going on with the storm (she was on the phone with her brother in Miami). I said just a second and checked here knowing that you would have something current...and you do....you're the best....

btw...Irene gave us (Long Island) four days of steady pulsing ground swell. The best waves of the summer, not too big but punchy.

Just got telephone report from Marathon, they were pounded all night, still getting it. My place--open water Atlantic side, lost a few shingles.

Does anybody remember Weaver the Weatherman from Miami on the CBS local station in the 50's? The pilots that flew planes into the eye...the seeding experiments...I swear there were better forcasts and coverage then.

Looks like the second landfall is going to be very nasty.

Stay safe, everybody.

This is a screenshot of the latest storm track from NOAA which is overlayed on the latest hi-res radar which is then overlayed on the Google Earth Sat map of the region. (1658 EDT).

Thanks again, NautiNurse, for puttting up this thread. Glad to have this resource.

I spent the day doing a temporary repair on my roof in anticipation of Katrina coming this way. When I started this AM, she was "tracked" for the Panama City area. I'm relieved she'll head somewhere else although I pray the damage will be minimal.

My bees are still agitated from the effects of Dennis. I've been stung several times just by walking by the hives. Cantankerous ladies in those boxes. I'm sure they are pleased too.

Will keep a close watch this weekend.
