Police ask help in finding assault suspects

Two veterans of the Iraq war were among those savagely beaten recently in Pioneer Square by a group of men.

Now, Seattle police are looking for the attackers. On Wednesday, they released a videotape of the attack filmed by a witness and still photos captured from the tape.

"We are hoping the public can offer some assistance," police spokesman Sean Whitcomb said.

The assault happened just past 2:30 a.m. on July 31, police reported.

A group of people were in line to enter Larry's Nightclub on First Avenue South when a man groped one of the women in the group.

Her friend, another woman, confronted the man, and he groped her as well.

Actually, all those involved were of the same race.

This was not a race hate crime.

A local talk show host (John Carlson) was talking about this today. A big scandal is brewing.

The police had the video tape (two videos?) within a few days of the incident.

Why wasn't it released until now? Carlson thinks its because it was the height of SeaFair (a major local event that lasts a week or more) and publicity of something like that taking place would have squashed the $$$ to be earned by businesses and bars and restaurants in downtown Seattle during the rest of SeaFair.

Side note of mine: I think it is a race thing, but not a hate crime. Blacks can claim that since it was black-on-black crime, it's wasn't newsworthy and the police were in no hurry to solve it. They can say that if it were black gangs beating up lily white preppies, you can bet the police response would have been different and immediate.

At least I am surprised no one is saying that yet (that I've heard). Mark my words: it will happen.

Hopefully the police will soon catch this "playa" and throw his butt into the "slamma".

The only argument that can be made is that black victims don't get the same treatment as white victims. I can buy that argumentr to a certain extent. I actually heard a conservative black man go nuts on a black race baiter who was defending black thugs. This man said, "I don't give a damn how bad the cops treat black criminals, but I do care how decent blacks who are victims are treated.

Carlson said the victims had broken jaws and one had a broken arm. They are recovering fine now. At least as well as could be expected.

One could ask why they haven't been interviewed by the press.............

I saw an element on FR that I hadn't seen before. And I really didn't like it.

It's hard to see what's hiding in the shadows.

I could've sworn one of the guys was a mort. I can't believe he survived. Its sad to say, but a man has got to be careful where he takes his wife at 0230 in the morning.& if he does take a risk, he needs to carry.

I hope these fellas make a complete recovery and can point the perps out in court.

I think the average civilian may not have survived. I imagine a man returning from Iraq is pretty toughened up physically and mentally.
