Starting in January, 1998 I was "Son of Liberty" (I found FR through Drudge, like a lot of people did when the Lewinsky story broke). I switched in 1999 to "Rand al'Thor", then I got angry at Robert Jordan for dragging his Wheel of Time series out beyond all reason. Since I had been reading P.G. Wodehouse, I switched again to "Mr. Jeeves" in 2001.
Sometimes I think I might have compiled a large enough enemies list to warrant another switch. ;)

I agree! Hairy backs are a turn off for me. And the Unibrow? Who says:
"Oh! gosh look he's got one great BIG eyebrow!"

There is a difference between basic grooming and being a vane peacock. You got it perfectly right, unfortunately some of our more hairier friends think that a trimmed back is the same thing as castration, where the hair follicle is directly connected to a man's sense of identity ;)

Sadly most of the females I know all go for the pretty boy look, makes me sick and ruins my social life too, but that's why the Good Lord made Scotch. Scotch is a wonderful thing, women are better, but in times of no women scotch will do.

A hard task to do on a beach. Besides, you clearly haven't spent time in So Florida, I live here, tank tops are a must most of the year, heat and humidity being the main culprits. If one is swimming, perhaps a shirt is not necessary. But at other times, most men (and woment) would do better to cover up. A loose cotton shirt (yes, even one with long sleeves) is cool and keeps the sun off the skin.
It is not just a question of modesty (although there is that). Most people simply look better fully clothed. Although there are exceptions, the vast majority of Americans do not have bodies that look good half naked.
One more thing. Although I do not live in Florida, I do live in the desert Southwest, where the weather can get very hot. The people who tell me that they absolutely must wear shorts and tanktops to be cool are the same people who spend almost all of their time indoors in air-conditioned comfort. Just about the only time they are exposed to the heat is when they walk between the front door and their cars.

Agree,
A guy can still be masculine, macho and totally alpha...
While being pleasant to touch, look at and smell. :)

There quite a difference between the Florida weather and the SW weather. Yours is too dry and too hot, we deal with the humidity mostly and not as much the heat. And if there is one thing about being a beach community is more vanity about appearance, we just happen to have more physically fit people than, let's say, people in TX or WI.

Yes--I remember "Son of Liberty" (I'm a RevWar nut) but not your later name. We all make enemies here on occasion...as long as you don't find someone waiting for you at your house to "continue the discussion," it's no problem. LOL!

I thought that the "Deb" that stopped posting here a few years ago was she. If you have the true facts, then I defer to you.

One of the great things about living in Seattle is I am considered uber-Macho compared to the effete metrosexuals around here. Women complain, however, that I am "too intense." They do compliment me on being a "man" however.
Gee, and in Brooklyn, I was considered a p-ssy by some...
