A review of medical evidence has found that fetuses likely don't feel pain until the final months of pregnancy, a powerful challenge to abortion opponents who hope that discussions about fetal pain will make women think twice about ending pregnancies.
Critics angrily disputed the findings and claimed the report is biased.
"They have literally stuck their hands into a hornet's nest," said Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand, a fetal pain (search) researcher at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, who believes fetuses as young as 20 weeks old feel pain. "This is going to inflame a lot of scientists who are very, very concerned and are far more knowledgeable in this area than the authors appear to be. This is not the last word -- definitely not."

If an adult human gets enough morphine before you cut their head off they don't feel no pain either.
Doesn't exactly change the argument about whether its ok to cut off adults heads does it ?
(NOTE: This logic only works for non-muslims).
Bingo.
I forgot the tag line.
Firstly, I don't believe them. Secondly, even if it were true, it doesn't change the fact that abortion is the murder of an unborn child. They can try to distance themselves by using less charged terms such as fetus, but it's human life no matter what name they chose to use.
Moral Absolutes Ping.
This is so sickening I don't have time to make the long comments I would like to make. So it's do-it-yourself comment time. There are already some good ones.
The amazing mental contortions people will go through to justify evil is beyond belief.
Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist.
Nerve endings, along with a spinal column and brain mass, are developing in babies within the first 20 weeks, therefore, babies would have to feel some sort of pain.

Context Proposed federal legislation would require physicians to inform women seeking abortions at 20 or more weeks after fertilization that the fetus feels pain and to offer anesthesia administered directly to the fetus. This article examines whether a fetus feels pain and if so, whether safe and effective techniques exist for providing direct fetal anesthesia or analgesia in the context of therapeutic procedures or abortion.
Don't you just love how they get a Doctor from Arkansas (no offense to AR) instead of rebutting this report with a doctor in Chicago or NY. A nice subtle insinuation that the hicks in the Midwest are not enlightened enough to understand this topic
If so why I'll go to jail if i shoot a damn cat trespassing and stinking off my property? The cat feels no pain. Why people killing unborn innocent babies do not go to jail?
Challenging any stinking liberal, animal or woman "rights" activist to give me a LOGICAL, INTELLIGENT, SCIENTIFIC, and SOFISTICATED answer
My Ma'... link.
Exactly. Taking the word "torturous" out of the phrase "torturous murder of a small child" doesn't really change much, does it?
Bears repeating.
Why wouldn't it be news?
It amazes me how much BS will be put out there to try to make baby killing acceptable.
Just like Terri Schiavo didn't feel pain and dehydration/starvation are painless.
