Bullets falling rarely kill.

5000-lb bullets do...

No-But I spoke to many who feel that as Begin did last time-Israel will strike Iran if they feel threatened -Israel won't care what US says and at this point I am 100% sure that Bush wouldn't mind someone does the "dirty work for him".
(He's hinted as such)

A desperate attempt to win "hearts and minds" that will never be won.

Helps if the people whose hearts and minds are to be won have them in the first place.

This seems to me to be the only plausible explanation. It's Israel fortifying itself. Unfortunately, however, it was presented from a position of weakness and conciliation, and that has only emboldened the Palestinian nutcases, including their new great leader. But I guess they'll find out the true reason, sooner or later.

Re your #3;

Well, THIS American opines that Israel has already been coerced into way too many "concessions", and I'm ashamed of my own Government for doing what is so blatently stupid.

Admittedly, I'm no expert on ME affairs - but I get the strong sense that it's the Saudis who are "pressuring" the Adim. in DC to "pressure" our (former?) allies in Israel to keep retreating toward the sea.

And who has seen to it that our economy and security remains dependant on Saudi oil while vast resources under our own turf remain off limits?

Our domestic enemies are doing one bang-up job, with total impunity, aren't they?

The next scene may well be the "final solution" as Islamic coallition forces swoop down on Israel while Arabia gets a stranglehold on the fuel supplies of anyone inclined to intervene (is anyone other than the US in that catagory?) and China holds a nuke or two over our heads.

We'll be forced to stay out of it at the very least, if not join in the persecution.

The stage is all set, isn't it?

And the pattern is so consistant with ancient prophecy, that the outcome, as far as those of us who still believe that stuff are concerned, is a foregone conclusion.

Yesterday we saw a play in which our Sister in Law played a part... and how ironic;

"Fiddler on the Roof".

It's Deja Vu all over again.

All I can say is that I hope that is why they're doing it. Seeing the images of settlers being torn from their homes was, well, unsettling.

Now, they just have more dirt to squat on with their hand out. They are not capable of making a home of it.

Does that theory hold water with anyone else?

Well, look at it this way. Whose back is to the sea? Who no longer has any Jewish settlers to use as human shields?

Who is no longer constrained with the possibility of harming ones citizens?

Good to see Miss Palestine is taking her title seriously and not resting on her laurels.

Some folks opined that Israel should leave the infrastructure intact to garner international goodwill. I think that knockingit all down will be mor eeffective in showing how bad off the Pallies really are as they remain in undeveloped junkpiles and the poor saps that get to move in to give the terrorists human shields will be miserable without the opportunity to move into ready-made housing/businesses.

Not only do the Palis want the roads, sewage treatment plant, irrigation systems, telephone lines, power lines, fresh water plumbing, and fiber optic communication lines that the Israelis installed, they also want the UN (read the United States) to pay for the huge apartment buildings they want erected.

And guess what? We are going to be paying for them.

But don't worry, in a few months, Gaza will look like every other Arab sector in Israel.

Well, we paid for their rally flags so what's more money to throw away for bullets, fireworks and some donkey rides.

Does this mean that if the U.S. pushes Israel far enough, and things go from "dismal" to "utterly dismal" for Israel, that the U.S. will "set things right"?

They will kill or relocate all the mass-murdering "palestinians"?

I agree we will be pouring too much money into the area, but it will most likely go for Pali arms and bombs rather than for real infrastructure...
