On another thread, when I expressed my disgust at Israel's apparent complete capitulation to terrorism, another poster said that this is actually a brilliant move to shore up their line of defense before attacking Iran (the settlers in Gaza would be too poorly defended in the event of a counterattack). Does that theory hold water with anyone else?

Logically speaking, it could very well be the only reason Sharon agreed to withdraw from Gaza.
Makes perfect sense. If Hamas attacks with rockets from Gaza there are will be no Israelis in the way of a massive IDF response.
