Gallows humor is at least as beneficial in a serious accident aftermath as a roomful of candle-burning, pity-party grief counselors.

I had the unfortunate job of having to visit a burn ward about 8 months ago to speak with a burn victim. Hopefully, I'll never have to go back to a place like that. Words can't describe it.

Try working an 8hr shift in the Burn Center... Not a lot of fun, and the smell does get to you have a while

Hundreds of people, some of whom had been evacuated from local businesses, crowded the street in front of the Crocker Galleria.

Among them was Tom McGibben, who works at Thomas Weisel Partners at 120 Kearny, which evacuated its employees.

"We saw the lights flicker at 9:50 a.m. We felt a pretty good shake. At first, we thought it was an earthquake.

"We saw smoke. The alarms in our building came on. ... At around the 20th floor you could smell something. At that point, we began to think it could be something worse than a quake. ... There were flashes to 9/11."

Tim Keenan, an employee at Charles Schwab, said he was evacuated from the 17th floor of the same building.

"I saw a flash of light. I looked out of the window. I saw people running and screaming," he said. "Our floor warden then asked people to begin to evacuate. To me, it sounded like a big boom of thunder."

Please exert the mental puissance required to delineate between generic humorous conjectures and inappropriate remakrs based on real victims of this incident.

For any inappropriate commentary you find, please enumerate the manner in which the alleged imporprieties are linked to actual victims.

Which areas of the country do you think are prone to have sub-par Freepers?

I misspoke. I'll say it this way: certain types of Freepers from all parts of the country live down to the stereotypes Hollywood has created of conservatives. Meaning that those stereotypes aren't entirely undeserved.

But it is flammable. And the larger problem is not the oil itself but what is gassed off if there are any faults (arcing) inside the transformer. Acetylene is one. When the concentration gets high enough, you have a big bomb waiting to go off.

"It sounded like a big poof"

... and a San Franciscan would definitely know what a "big poof" sounds like.

Certain types of Freepers, from all parts of the country, reject the social engineering that Hollywood has attempted relating to homosexuals. Meaning that the social engineering hasn't been entirely effective.

Plaint text: We aren't buying the Hollywood line.

And this is a BAD thing, how???

I think I get it, thanks. I've noticed the ping thing, but I didn't understand the bump, other than I thought it meant that the poster wanted to get back to the issue.

I think we were talking about making juvenile "fag" jokes in response to an emergency situation in San Francisco that resulted in an unfortuante woman being sent to a burn unit.

However one feels about the homosexual agenda, such behavior is boorish and stupid.
