Thanks for the ping. Steyn does some of his more lengthy and polished stuff for the Spectator, but he's always a terrific read.

This is the bitter end of the bitter sixties counter revolution and the old bitter hippies cannot understand that they and their opinions are not relevant in a post 9/11 world. This won't stop until the 60's hippies are retired from MSM and Universities. Those are jobs that some keep well into their 80's. We've got at least another 20 years of this nonsense.
At least, most of them are too old to have the energy to carry on loud and long demonstrations.
But if they decide to call one of their demonstrations "Woodstock II", look out! :-)

".... in most advanced societies armed forces they prefer to use grown-ups.
That seems to be difficult for the Left to grasp."
Of course it's difficult for them to grasp. The radical left is comprised of people that have one thing in common, refusal to grow-up. Remember the poinytailed nitwit that asked Clinton during his first run for pres., "I'd like you to treat us as your children."?
It's the lefts defining statement.

"You can't have victims who are complicit in their own fate."
You and I belive that, but the lefties don't. Participation in making ones own misery is irrelevent to victimhood status. That may be the sentinel difference between libs and conservatives.
Accepting your statement above may be the definition of 'grown-up".

"Sure wish goldilocks would've slipped him some shampoo and conditioner."
The guy who played Merry in the LOTR movies said that Viggo didn't use anything on his body that wasn't natural. He didn't use regular deoderant, just herbs & stuff. He said you could always tell when he was in a room even if you didn't see him. I forgot the exact quote, but I got the impression the smell was like B.O. bathed in flowers.

The last time I heard Miss Rhodes she was... entertaining theories that 9/11 was Bushs Reichstag fire.Ummm. Most people, especially most Democrats would have no idea what the hell she means by that, so the point is lost.

Once again, I write the editor at my local newspapers, demanding that they carry Steyn's columns.
It won't happen, of course. Sensible arguments are no longer permitted on the editorial pages.

Steyn is the BEST~!
Who else could do this?
" Max Cleland...was outraged that anyone would impugn Senator Kerrys war record and was impugning Bush for not impugning the Swift vets for impugning Kerry. "
AND THIS....
"... Maureen Dowd, who writes as if shes auditioning for a minor supporting role in Sex and the City. "
He is THE MAN!

Which is why he was unable to "sell" himself in the role, IMHO. There was a disturbing weakness and unpredictability to his Aragorn that was disappointing.
