"Debbie in Indianapolis, the Voice of America" (Mom of Marine -- great caller on Rush today)
Rush ^

Debbie in Indianapolis, the Voice of America August 17, 2005

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: This is Debbie in Indianapolis, named after Indians, and it's the headquarters of the NCAA. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: Hey, Rush we come from a super mega dittos household. When my 13-year-old was born she said ditto before she could say mom.

RUSH: (Laughing.) I'm not surprised. The future of America.

CALLER: Absolutely. I'm a MOM, which stands for, "Mother of a Marine", and I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says, "Your son got an A in college; my son got a Purple Heart in Iraq." His vehicle ran over a land mine twice in one day. We always talk about "if" something would happen to my son, I would never dishonor him. I'm sorry. I'm getting emotional in this. I would never dishonor his actions by doing what this woman is doing. My son volunteered to join the Marines. When he was 18 years, one month, and ten days old on September 12th he announced that he was joining the Marines after he saw the Twin Towers fall. When his first orders to Iraq were canceled he told us that, "Bush better not pull out before I get there." He knew it was something that needed to be done. He's going back for his second tour next month. What she's doing is not only dishonoring her son, she's dishonoring mine. RUSH: Debbie, I can't thank you enough for calling, and I can't thank you enough for doing another thing. You have just spoken for the vast majority of Americans in your call. You have just echoed exactly what they think. God bless you. Thanks so much for your call.

CALLER: I hope so. Thank you.

RUSH: You have, trust me on this. You are far more a voice, a representative voice of the people of this country than any of the rabble rousing malcontents that are being given airtime in a failed attempt to destroy the policy by the mainstream press. Trust me.

CALLER: It hurts me that she's sending the message that it seems like her son died for nothing. He didn't die for nothing. He died in the United States Armed Forces. There's nothing more honorable than that. These kids volunteered. They were not yanked from their cradle by an evil government to send them someplace they didn't want to go. My son knew on September 12th he was going over. My son knew what was in store for him, and my son stepped up to the plate. The caller you had on Monday, he was talking about, "Gee, how come these senators' kids aren't volunteering if the war is so great?" We're not going to talk about if the war is so great, let's talk about these kids who are great who stepped up to the plate and said, "You know what, I need to do something about this. There's something bigger than me out there."

RUSH: Debbie, exactly right. Debbie, thank you again. You just heard it, Debbie in Indianapolis, the voice of this country.

Thanks for posting this Uncledave. I heard that call and I must admit I lost it. This woman said more in one minute than anyone could say in one day. God Bless this wonderful lady, her family, America and it's soldiers!

I guess you have crossed over, if you don't understand the battle.

But not to worry, you are aren't mainstream.

"Debbie's passionate, eloquent, patriotic call to Rush was one of the most moving I've heard in a long time. I had tears streaming down my face from the moment her voice broke. Rush was right. She spoke for the majority of Americans, and she did it from her heart...from our hearts too. God bless her,and her wonderful son. God bless every one of our service men and women, and their families. We can never thank them enough."

It's obvious that some of us can put things into words better than others. MOM in Indianapolis is one of those people. You are another. Thanks LucyJo for putting into words exactly how I (and many, many others) feel. I hope Rush addresses Debbie again tomorrow. She's touched a lot of us!

It was certainly an impassioned and moving telephone call. I got those little shiny wet things on my cheeks too.

Cindy Sheehan does NOT speak for the majority of Americans. She proves her absolute stupidity with every word she utters. She's a great mouthpiece for the Left, a slow-mo'd insane Dean scream. And we all know what that scream got him. She's laughable, a microscopic blip on the timeline of history.

I hear you. I agree. My comments were more frustration at the rest of America that doesnt understand what we need to do to win this thing..and that it is just. I guess Im just worn out with defending territory (mindshare) that we should already control. This isnt the country I grew up in. Its just sad that we have to continually do tit for tat. I want this ended..Now..so my kids dont have to fight it.

Not aimed at her the true patriot or even Rush (one of our best soldiers). It just amazes me that most people (non-freepers of course) could care less or understand the stakes. Its like the straw arguments the left puts up to demogogue an issue without pointing out the key points or question. This country is dying and they are killing it and I want some victories in this war.

I prefer to wake up to the news that weve "deployed" 100 MOABs in the field...and that terrorist casualties just arent available yet because there are so many.....

Thank you, but I couldn't hold a candle to Debbie's call. She was exceptional. I wish everyone could have heard her, and I hope she finds other opportunities to speak out on behalf of her son and our troops.

I don't know how anyone could have listened to Debbie today without getting choked up and teary eyed. I think Rush did as well. She was something else, wasn't she?

No, Cindy Sheehan does not speak for the majority of Americans, no matter how much the MSM tries to convince us of it, or how many polls tell us that she does. God bless her courageous son's memory. I'm thankful he can't see her desecrating it.

Her son is still alive. I think she said he was returning to Iraq in about a month. Courageous, indeed.

"Someone ought to take this down to Crawford and play it on a mega loud speaker."
=======

Great idea! A group of FReepers are going to Crawford on August 27. Hope someone going down there does just that.

"I caught this segment of the show today and felt better about the USA as a result."
=======

And, that is why you won't be hearing Debbie, or anyone like her, very frequently on MSM outlets. It is why they filter everything positive and put all of their energy into negative spin.

Wow, he can declare someone the voice of this country.

He is truly greater than mere humans.
I need to dust off my Rush shrine and get some new candles.

Great idea! </sarcasm>

Seriously, a great deal of what Rush does is mock-heroic braggadocio as parody of the way establishment journalism presumes to toss The Truth down to us mere mortals.

But this description of the call of "Debbie from Indianapolis" was no kind of parody. It was truth, in the sense that the country is ruled by her sentiments and not by Cindy Shehan's. I know that there are people who disagree with her sentiments; Mrs. Shehan is one of them. But I also know that Mrs. Shehan is - like Jane Fonda back in the day - being puffed up by arrogant, superficial men for their own purposes. Whereas Debbie's eqally sincere and heartfelt - but also more logical - appeal is "born to blush unseen" if establishment journalism has its way.

The MSM positions Mrs. Shehan's politics as unassailable; Maureen Dowd claims that Shehan is virtually the voice of God. Debbie has just as much authority, in my book - and Debbie's name actually should be "legion - for we are many." It lies not within the realm of reason to suppose that the mothers of all the troops in Iraq think like Cindy Shehan. Because Cindy is disrespecting - indeed endangering - all those troops.

And if Rush does not literally have the authority to speak for every American, he does rightfully speak for those who are aggrieved by the MSM establishment.

Cindy's son, Casey, is the one I was refering to there. I feel so sorry for the family having to watch Cindy opposing everything he volunteered, and fought and died to defend.
