"Debbie in Indianapolis, the Voice of America" (Mom of Marine -- great caller on Rush today)
Rush ^

Debbie in Indianapolis, the Voice of America August 17, 2005

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: This is Debbie in Indianapolis, named after Indians, and it's the headquarters of the NCAA. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: Hey, Rush we come from a super mega dittos household. When my 13-year-old was born she said ditto before she could say mom.

RUSH: (Laughing.) I'm not surprised. The future of America.

CALLER: Absolutely. I'm a MOM, which stands for, "Mother of a Marine", and I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says, "Your son got an A in college; my son got a Purple Heart in Iraq." His vehicle ran over a land mine twice in one day. We always talk about "if" something would happen to my son, I would never dishonor him. I'm sorry. I'm getting emotional in this. I would never dishonor his actions by doing what this woman is doing. My son volunteered to join the Marines. When he was 18 years, one month, and ten days old on September 12th he announced that he was joining the Marines after he saw the Twin Towers fall. When his first orders to Iraq were canceled he told us that, "Bush better not pull out before I get there." He knew it was something that needed to be done. He's going back for his second tour next month. What she's doing is not only dishonoring her son, she's dishonoring mine. RUSH: Debbie, I can't thank you enough for calling, and I can't thank you enough for doing another thing. You have just spoken for the vast majority of Americans in your call. You have just echoed exactly what they think. God bless you. Thanks so much for your call.

CALLER: I hope so. Thank you.

RUSH: You have, trust me on this. You are far more a voice, a representative voice of the people of this country than any of the rabble rousing malcontents that are being given airtime in a failed attempt to destroy the policy by the mainstream press. Trust me.

CALLER: It hurts me that she's sending the message that it seems like her son died for nothing. He didn't die for nothing. He died in the United States Armed Forces. There's nothing more honorable than that. These kids volunteered. They were not yanked from their cradle by an evil government to send them someplace they didn't want to go. My son knew on September 12th he was going over. My son knew what was in store for him, and my son stepped up to the plate. The caller you had on Monday, he was talking about, "Gee, how come these senators' kids aren't volunteering if the war is so great?" We're not going to talk about if the war is so great, let's talk about these kids who are great who stepped up to the plate and said, "You know what, I need to do something about this. There's something bigger than me out there."

RUSH: Debbie, exactly right. Debbie, thank you again. You just heard it, Debbie in Indianapolis, the voice of this country.

I guess I misread/misunderstood. Thanks for clarifying. Isn't it interesting how news stories that were so hot mere weeks ago (think Karl Rove) have been pushed away by this pathetic pity pusher?

FReepers are going to Austin on the 27th, eh? Maybe I'll think of them while I enjoy the air show in Indianapolis that day. Nah...I probably won't. Texas is not a place I like to think about. [no offense intended, Texas FReepers] :o)

"I hope she finds other opportunities to speak out on behalf of her son and our troops."

That would be nice. But even if she's the kind of person who wouldn't want to be a part of a media circus, rest assured, that what she said today WILL be heard around the country. Thank God the truth now has a way of going around the MSM!

I was able to catch this part of his show today, loved the comment on the bumper sticker. I had to pull over and regain my composure before I could drive - she spoke for me.

My wife & I have tshirts that read
"My son fought in Iraq and all I got was this lousy t shirt." Oh, and thank God, we also got our son back whole & in one piece.

He is due to head out again, sometime between Columbus Day and Christmas, with 120 of his closest friends...... all of them loaded for bear, as we used to say.

"It hurts me that she's sending the message that it seems like her son died for nothing. He did not die for nothing."

He certainly did NOT die for nothing. He died to maintain Freedom and Liberty in the United States, to obtain Freedom and Liberty for the Iraqi people, and to bring enslaved people all over the world, that much closer to Freedom! I cannot think of a BETTER reason to sacrifice one's life.

There's more calls where that came one from and I hope Rush airs them.

We heard this same stuff after the Viet Nam war. Those soldiers didn't die for "nothing" either. Enough. Our country does not need to and will not go through this kind of thing again. The deaths of our soldiers are NEVER in vain.

For the record I wore my Marine uniform off and on for more than 40 years during which I did three wars. So I know what these kids are doing for us and precisely how tough it really is.

I know women like Debbie well, my wife was one. See we have two boys, both Marines, both have done two tours. On 9/11 they were Marines and since I had been back in every fight since 1964 we thought I’d be back in uniform for this tussle too. As the towers of the WTC collapsed she looked at me and said “Looks like I’ll have to pray for three of you this time,” then she looked at the piano where the pictures of our kids and grandkids are and added “but I know you have to go straighten this thing out.”

I’ve been blessed to know some of the bravest, most loyal and unselfish Americans in my lifetime but none was, is, or will ever be better than my wife.

I think I know Debbie pretty well and I honor her too.

And if we back the kids doing the work they'll bring back the goods.

Hubba Hubba, Bumparooni ... I heard the call live on Rush's show ...

Very powerful ... A must listen, if you haven't heard it. The transcript just doesn't do it justice ...

Thank you and your lovely family for your service. Thank your wife for her understanding of what you, your son, your fellow armed service members do for our country.

The families who stay home, continue the day to day living to keep the home fires burning, without the light of the MSM shining upon them, are the ones to whom we extend our deepest appreciation for their contributions.

My daughter did a successful 11 months in Iraq right after the first troops took Baghdad. Now I have almost 3000 of my 'kids' just deployed to Iraq. I don't grasp your comment either and hope for clarification.

I started to excerpt your post to answer, but that would have done a disservice to it, and to those mentioned in it. You brought tears to my eyes, and love and pride to my heart. None are more deserving of honor than members of our armed forces...families like yours and Debbie's from Indianapolis, and the many others here at FR. I can't tell you how thankful I am, and how precious you all are to all of us in my family.

You said,"I’ve been blessed to know some of the bravest, most loyal and unselfish Americans in my lifetime but none was, is, or will ever be better than my wife." None better than all of you. We are blessed because of you. You, and all of our military families are, and will continue to be, always in our hearts and prayers.
