Correction Appended
CRAWFORD, Tex., Aug. 12 - This is not the place to expect a sighting of Viggo Mortensen, the star of "The Lord of the Rings." Or at least it wasn't when President Bush began his annual vacation here earlier this month.
But something has happened to Crawford over the last week. The sleepy summer air has been punctured by a blast of antiwar energy, with carloads of activists appearing every afternoon to join a vigil begun by the mother of a soldier who died in Iraq.
Flowers are delivered by the dozen at Camp Casey, as the muddy outpost established by the mother, Cindy Sheehan, near the Bush ranch is now called. White crosses have been hammered into the dirt, pink banners strewn across the trees, the police posted at bends in the road to wave gawkers along.
When Mr. Mortensen drove up the dusty lane unannounced on Thursday to huddle with Ms. Sheehan in a roadside trailer, it was just one more jarring sight in a small town accustomed to seeing mostly the reporters and buttoned-down administration officials it has come to know over the last five years.
No one has been more challenged by the round-the-clock campsite than Mr. Bush, who sped past in his motorcade for the first time on Friday and, as expected, did not stop to grant Ms. Sheehan's request for a meeting.
But even before Ms. Sheehan arrived, this sort of challenge was not entirely an unexpected one for Mr. Bush, who by the end of this summer will have spent more time away from the White House than any other president in history...

Actually, the tradition of removing posts like yours began with a few psychotic stalkers who were working for the Clinton Administration.
I would love to debate, even with the namecallers,...
Yeah, that's EXACTLY what the psycho-stalkers (whose visible means of support were always unclear, if you get my drift) always said...
Think about what that means folks. And is the irony completely lost on you?
I've often thought about what it means when the Left shouts "free speech" all day, then when one of theirs (Boy Clinton) assumes power, suddenly begin the IRS audits, the pulling of FBI files, coordinated SLAPP lawsuits with two of the country's largest newspapers, and cyber-stalking by Democrat administration operatives...
Sheehan dragged her son's dead body out this morning on the TooGay Show and wiggled it around a bit, blaming her pending divorce on Casey's death.
She'll be blaming bad weather and an unbalanced checkbook on her son's death next... ;-)
I'll always be amused by the mental picture of George W. Bush "hiding" from Code Pink Sheehan while he was meeting with her last year.
How many pieces of silver is Code Pink getting from Soros (I'd say Moore, too, but he's not known for giving away his sizeable stash...)? ;-)
Say - when's Cindy Sheehan going to meet with ME? Why is she hiding from concerned Americans like us?
....Camp Casey....
?? I thought it was called Cindikistan.
That's a terrible insult to third-world Islamic cesspools of all kinds.

Hang in there. The American experience lives on.
Perhaps Texas should put into law an open season on crapweasels. Any calibre firearm is permitted. Iron traps are also permitted. Place iron trap along walkways at Camp Casey and associated weasel hotel. Remote triggered IED's must first apply for legal temporary permit.

Not in the least but funny.
As I've said in other posts, I have no use for what Sheehan is doing. She needs to pack up and go home and see her kids. But unless you've lost a child, you truly have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. If you don't think the death of child can break a marriage, then you simply don't have a clue.
I think you are right. Thanks.
I don't cut them an ounce of slack, and I'm not about to start now.
I never met a hippie, either, and am grateful for that!
