Clinton: I Would Have Attacked Bin Laden

Ex-president Bill Clinton now says he would have taken out Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks – if only the FBI and CIA had been able to prove the al-Qaida mastermind was behind the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.

"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week. "Then we could have launched an attack on Afghanistan early."

"I don’t know if it would have prevented 9/11," he added. "But it certainly would have complicated it.”

Despite his failure to launch such an attack, Clinton said he saw the danger posed by bin Laden much more clearly than did President Bush.

"I always thought that bin Laden was a bigger threat than the Bush administration did," he told New York magazine.

I checked to make sure. Yep, that particular strike against the camel and tent in 1998, three days after committing perjury, was because of the embassy bombings.

What a second. Bin Laudin was already connected with the African Embassy bombings and that is considered US soil. Why would it matter what happened to the USS Cole? As I remember he was offered Bin Laudin several times, but was more worried on what lawyers would think. I swear you could squeeze Clintons head and you would have enough manure gushing out from his ears to fertilize Kansas!

I think those launchings were for two reasons.

1) Diversion from Lewinsky's grand jury testimony and
2) Retaliation for the embassy bombings in Africa.

I agree with the poster that said earlier in the thread that all Clinton wanted to do was leave a clean legacy...no fighting the Muslims (might get his hands dirty)...

So he swept all of the problems under the Oval Office rug, just waiting to seep out when Bush took office...just like the stock market was going down....but it only went WAY down under Bush and then 9/11...

so Bush gets blamed for the deficit...and the lack of military hardware and such...

and the crook admitted in that interview that he let all of us down...especially the families of 9/11.
