Drudge! MASSACHUSETTS MAY REQUIRE MENTAL SCREENINGS FOR RETURNING SOLDIERS
Drudge report ^ | August 15, 2005 | Matt Drudge

Massachusetts officials are considering mandatory mental health screenings for National Guardsmen returning from Iraq, the BOSTON GLOBE is reporting on Tuesday.

Mandatory mental-health screening nationwide currently applies only to full-service soldiers and usually involves only answering a questionnaire.

Post-traumatic stress disorder, as the condition is commonly known, is one of the theories being weighed in the case of Daniel Cotnoir, the 33-year-old Marine sergeant charged with attempted murder in Lawrence for firing a shotgun into a crowd of raucous partiers outside his home early Saturday.

I don't mind this if it means getting care to our returning soldiers when they may not be aware they have a problem, beofre they can "slip through the cracks" as so many seem to.

Taxachusetts should require mental screening for all voters.

Self inflicted wounds don't count as combat.

"MAY REQUIRE"

Sure, if there were reports in the field of some soldiers having troubles, they would look into this at home for the safety of all.

Makes good sense.

I think the Drudge thread said something on Sunday about Matt being off with Ann Coulter making babies while they listen to his gay bumber dance retro music from his show.

If so, good for him.

Must be to make sure they are stupid enough to vote for Kennedy and Kerry.

You gotta be kidding me! They let the mentally dysfunctional perverts "marry", yet they consider the American patriots insane ?

Nuke Massachusetts.

A few points will be deducted from their score if the Vets don't enthusiastically support gay marriage. It will be considered evidence of intolerance resulting from battlefield stress.

While this may be a good idea. I think anyone living in a state that has continually returned that stupid ass hat named Ted Kennedy to the Senate needs a mental health screening prior to voting.

Hmm..

MASS conducting mental health screenings. Almost like putting San Francisco in charge isn't it?

Watch questions determining mental health be a) who they voted for and b) if they support the C-C-C and war.

LOL...this from the people who just okayed gay marriage! Most of the US thinks Massachusettes residents must be insane to live in that liberal cesspool. The soldiers are among the sane remnant who had the sense to leave. Why in the world would they want to come back to a state full of anti-US military haters?

"Massachusetts officials are considering mandatory mental health screenings for National Guardsmen returning from Iraq..."

That's what I was thinking. Maybe they're right. Anybody willingly going to Massachusetts need to have their head looked at!

The leftists are tired of having the public think of American troops as courageous and heroic. They'd much rather they were viewed as damaged goods -- psychologically unstable time bombs liable to go off at any moment.

A propagandist's work is never done. Heck, they spent hundreds of millions of perfectly good Hollywood dollars selling that very image in the years after Vietnam, and here they have to start all over again...

Just because John Kerry came home mentally ill doesn't mean the state should assume that all returning soldiers are. ;)

I doubt that any soldier would voluntarily return to Massachusetts anyway.

I don't see a point in mandatory mental health screenings of veterans. Who is to say the liberals in Mass. won't take the most negative results of the mental health screenings and try to sue the federal government for damages?
