LIVE THREAD: H.O.T. CHAPTER'S CRAWFORD SUPPORT PRES. AND TROOPS RALLY (8/13/05)

Posted on 08/13/2005 6:55:59 AM PDT by kristinn

The Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com is holding a rally in Crawford, Texas today to show America's support for our troops, President Bush and the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.

The rally will be held at noon at the Crawford Civic Center at 1000 4th Street.

Freepers are coming from near and far to join the H.O.T. Chapter in Crawford. If you live within four hours drive of Crawford, it's not too late to hit the road and get on down there.

Folks in attendance will be calling in to me, Brad's Gramma and Jeff Head with live updates from the scene. I am told that cellphone coverage in Crawford is spotty. However, it may have gotten better of late.

We'll see.

Hat's off to Basil, Doctor Raoul, The Sarce and 2ndAmendmentMama (and anyone else) who've been scrambling the past two days to make this happen. Good luck!

I e-mailed news programs to ask them what's with all the new pro-American stuff going on in Crawford. What's with all the pro-American flags, and the all the people moving in. I asked them to report on it so we know the president is alright.

Your platters of wings and quesadillas -- along with the rally pictures -- I'm sure did more good than standing out in the hot sun will do. Thank you so much for your gesture of support for our troops. I wish that I were closer andI would have stood in the hot sun in your place!

I certainly hope this rally makes the news!

And for the poster who mentioned the chemical plant discovered in Iraq! That is really important! Let's pray that the MSM will finally wake up.

I just saw this from a Columbus, Georgia Fox Station....maybe some of FReepers in Crawford can find this lady and welcome her to Texas!

Local Woman Faces War Protestors in Texas

Two women with strong ties to the war in Iraq and opposing views. Cindy Sheehan of Texas lost a son to the war. She's been protesting outside the President's ranch in Crawford, Texas for a week now demanding a face-to-face meeting with the President. And Miriam Eve Tidwell of Columbus has a son-and-law overseas.

Eve Tidwell says she traveled to Texas not face off with Ms. Sheehan, but to show support for her son killed in Iraq and all soldiers. Dr. Jack Tidwell is backing his wife, saying we all should be proud of our soldiers for what they have done, not bury their dedication and sacrifice in protest.

Mrs. Tidwell left Columbus early Friday morning and with homemade signs in hand she defended a soldier's willingness to die for our country. "We make a choice don't we, for what ever reason we make choices, life is a choice." Her son in law made the choice to defend our country and so did her husband. Dr. Jack Tidwell served 29 years with the Army Reserves retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He says, "I'm so tired, tired of this fussing and fighting about the war."

It was just two days ago the Tidwell's decided Eve would travel to Texas. Both believe our soldiers are heroes not victims, including Ms. Sheehan's son. "God bless her I mourn for her but we are in a war and we cannot go on and on with this hurting the morale of our soldiers," says Dr. Tidwell. Many of whom who have grown up believing in America and that faith has carried the one couples message to the President's ranch.

There are other military supporters outside the the Texas ranch. Even so, Dr. Tidwell says he may soon decide to join his wife. But it would only be to provide more support because even through the emotion he joked, "my wife can certainly take care of herself."

Don;t judge her too harshly - she is unhinged.

True. She needs help.
For starters --
Someone should help Cindy choose from among her conflicting exit strategies.

Cindy doesn't know if she is holding vigil
1) Until the President explains how her son was involved in a worthy cause -- or--
2) Until the president brings the troops home from Iraq

One of her causes is a FAUX CAUSE

Sadly, Mrs. Sheehan is doing the job of smearing herself with her rabid anti-war and anti-American comments.
