URGENT
Protect Your Dietary Supplements - Action Alert

July 2005
As you read this, Congress is considering new legislation

that would take away your access to safe,

 effective and affordable dietary supplements.

You can make a difference by urging your

 Representative to oppose

The Dietary Supplement Access and Awareness Act (H.R. 3156)

and any bill that would limit your choice and access to dietary supplements.

BACKGROUND:
The Dietary Supplement Access and Awareness Act (H.R. 3156)

introduced by Representatives Davis (D-CA), Waxman (D-CA), and Dingell (D-MI), this month,

would place trusted vitamins, minerals, and herbs under unprecedented and unwarranted scrutiny.

If H.R. 3156 becomes law, 70 percent of dietary supplements currently on the

market would become subject to burdensome new regulations –

some equivalent to those required for prescription drugs –

driving up supplement prices for everyone and forcing well known

dietary supplements to disappear from store and practitioners shelves.

TAKE ACTION NOW:
Write Your Representative
Let your lawmaker know that good laws exist on the books,

and the FDA needs to enforce them.

Please share your personal supplement story, so that your lawmaker understands

why it’s important to protect your access to dietary supplements.

To tell your congressman that you want access to

dietary supplements protected simply follow the instruction listed below.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Access www.NNFA.org
Click on the WRITE CONGRESS window at the top of the page.
Go to ACTION ALERT section.
Click on TELL CONGRESS TO PROTECT DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
Click on the red arrows to include specific paragraphs in your message.
Add any personal message you wish to express your feelings on this bill.
Complete the “YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION” section. This is critical if you wish your message to be counted by congress.

Please share this alert with as many of your customers as possible and

ask them to contact their congressional representatives using the instructions listed above.

Their input to congress is crucial if we hope to defeat this bill.

This email was sent to all members of a well known supplement company in the U.S. - who has been in business for over 50 years.

Many of us take dietary supplements, as we understand the toxicity of the food supply and the nutrional deficiency it brings.

Along with chronic illnesses, we know these nutrients are essential to make our bodies function - something that the general food supply cannot do.

I urge you to investigate for yourself, and take action. Our health, and the health of our children and grandchildren depend on it.

This bill has been introduced. It has been referred to the House Subcommittee on Health. It is the brainchild of three (minority) Democrats, whom the House leadership is unlikely to humor by even scheduling a hearing, or if they do, they will be overwhelmed by witnesses opposing any such law. Waxman is Big Brother personified, won't be happy until government controls every facet of our lives. The bill has no other co-sponsors, always a bad sign. The phones aren't ringing off the hooks demanding this legislation. I would venture to guess that it is going no where fast.

That is wonderful to hear. Anytime three Dems put their heads together - there cannot be any good coming out of it.

So glad no one else out there is making a move on this - SO FAR. JK
