I think it is time to move to Utah. Seattle @ 16??? Something is wrong. No voting records will show a conservative voting trend in this cess pool.

I assume Burlington Vermont is too small to make the list. I doubt any place in America can be as liberal as here.

I would have to disagree with this list. Boston is definitely among the top 5 conservative cities in the country.

I was born in the 8th most conservative city; conservatism must run in my genes. :-) So, basically this study is saying liberal blacks, which (they say) make up a high percentage of the liberal cities (so they say), are poor? Could it be because they've been brainwashed by the (mainly) white "intellectuals" in to thinking that liberalism will make their lives better, which it hasn't? Black people should join the winning team, stop being victims and start being successful!

Flawed model...New York City on 21 on the L list? Austin, TX on the conservative list? What a joke.

I did some US Census lookups.

In 2000, the 25 liberal cities had a combined population of 20,056,925. The 25 conservative cities had a combined population of 4,732,782.

In 2004, the 25 liberal cities had a combined population of 19,897,172 -- a drop of nearly 160,000 people, or 0.8%. By contrast the 25 conservative cities had a combined population of 5,059,288 -- growing by 326,706, or 6.5% in 4 years. This is a growth pace 50% higher than the national rate of 4.3%.

Together, the 25 conservative cities made a net gain of nearly half a million people against the 25 liberal cities in only 4 years. That's almost an entire congressional district in a single presidential election cycle, from a small list of cities.

If you believe that demography is destiny, the point is obvious: long term, liberals are screwed.

You're welcome Bethesda.

I wonder what the cities would be like with a crime rate comparison?

I wonder how the crime rate works out between liberal and conservative cities.

Anyone know where to find that info?

I'm surprised that Portland Maine didn't make the liberal list? It has turned into one gigantic 60's commune smelly arm pit city.

“While there are a few liberal cities without large African American populations, these wind up being the exceptions. College towns like Berkeley and Cambridge have modest black populations but remain bastions of upper middle-class, white, intellectual liberalism.

Intellectual liberalism...well that's an oxymoron. Note the implied racism of not mentioning Detroit as being the bastion of black, intellectual liberalism.

I wonder if it is possible to list the 25 top cities for the most minorities and the 25 top cities with the fewest minorities.

Further, I wonder if the two lists would have a high coorelation?

I can't believe all the SoCal cities that made the list! Woohoo! I am thrilled that Huntington Beach is on there because we may not live there but we spend a lot of time there. And L.A. did not make the 25 most liberal! Yeeah-ha-ha! (Or did the illegal aliens skew the polling??)
