Sen. Barbara Boxer said Wednesday she will vote against Supreme Court nominee John Roberts unless he supports rights she considers essential - - including abortion and privacy -- and slow Senate business to a crawl if he doesn't answer her questions.
"I need to know exactly where he will stand, and I need to know if he will fight to protect and defend the rights and freedoms of the American people,'' Boxer, D-Calif., told reporters after addressing a group of law students and abortion rights supporters at Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Those rights, she said, include reproductive choice and the constitutional right of privacy that was the basis of Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortion. Boxer said she was alarmed to learn that Roberts, as a lawyer in President Ronald Reagan's Justice Department, referred in a 1981 memo to a "so-called right of privacy.''
Roberts must answer questions about his writings, his work on anti- abortion legal briefs, and his rulings as a federal appeals court judge, including a recent opinion that questioned federal authority to protect endangered species, Boxer said.
If he declines, she said, she will "use all the parliamentary tools I've been given as a U.S. senator,'' including procedures that "make it difficult for other business to get done until we get the information we need.'' She did not threaten a filibuster, however, reflecting Democrats' hesitation to embark on all-out political warfare against the nomination.

Headline should be: "Democrat Posturing for the Pinheads Back Home"
The woman is nuts.
Damn everything else in the Constitution, just protect abortion.
She should like him as he seems to be more in her "court"
than ours.
It's a good thing there's no 'litmus test', or things could REALLY get sticky..
Gee Babs....walks like a filibuster....quacks like a filibuster ....its filibuster.
Bring it on Babs..
Sure, they'll whine and posture, but in the end, Roberts will be confirmed by a wide margin.
It is unbelievable how obnoxious and disgusting this bea*ch is.
Fine, Roberts should tell her what she wants to hear and then do just the opposite once he's confirmed....
ahahahaha... don't these DemRats do this by default?
Bring it on chimneysweep!
Maybe someone (if it can be done), should take a before picture... she'll be a sister with an afro after the nuke.
"Like another FReeper eloquently said, nothing gets the patriotic juices of Rats flowing like fighting for the "right" to terminate unborn children.
Damn everything else in the Constitution, just protect abortion."
Well yeah, that and anal sex...:-)

How dare you insult a female dog like that!
IOW, she will throw a spoiled-brat hissy fit if she dosen't get her way, despite what the President and majority of Congress want.
What a pathetic excuse of a 'leader'.
"Like another FReeper eloquently said, nothing gets the patriotic juices of Rats flowing like fighting for the "right" to terminate unborn children.
Damn everything else in the Constitution, just protect abortion."
The culture of death for the unborn rears it ugly head, again.
Maybe I will call her afterbirth instead...nah, afterbirth has uses.
Boxer wouldn't support Roberts if he performed an abortion live before the Judiciary Committee. Not so long as he was appointed by President Bush.
Attention Gang of 14:
I wonder what logic is used by Boxer and her Abortions-R-Us crowd to defend the injuries and deaths caused by RU-486? In the interest of defending the privacy and protecting the life and health of the pregnant human Bat$hit Boxer should be demanding an immediate ban. < what was I thinking? >
