Aug. 9, 2005 | Cindy Sheehan, the angry 48-year-old mom from Vacaville, Calif., whose son died while serving in the Army in Iraq and who has been staging a lonely bring-the-troops-home vigil outside President Bush's ranch beneath the baking Texas sun, has clearly become a thorn in the president's vacationing side. Putting a public and empathetic face on the war's toll in America, Sheehan, whose son, Casey, was killed in April 2004, has posed a very simple request to Bush: Come out and talk to me about Iraq and why my son died. .........
Taking peculiar pleasure in trying to discredit the small-town mother, right-wingers have been in a tizzy over what they perceive as a flip-flop by Sheehan on Iraq. They excitedly reassure themselves that her alleged inconsistency about the war ought to disqualify her from being a legitimate war critic. Problem is, the oddly playful bloggers, busy mocking Sheehan as a "crazy," "exploited," "left-wing moonbat," aren't really staring down a lone mother who may or may not have shifted her opinion about Bush and the war since 2004.
.......Over the weekend conservatives at the Free Republic unearthed a June 25, 2004, article from Sheehan's hometown newspaper, the Reporter, which detailed Sheehan's visit with Bush at Fort Lewis near Seattle earlier that month. Portions of the article suggested Sheehan was grateful for her time with Bush, in contrast with her current complaints about him. Freepers then passed along the clip to Matt Drudge, who talked about it on his Sunday-night syndicated radio show. On Monday morning he hyped his analysis on his Web site, concluding that Sheehan "has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!"

LOL.
If they had a lick of sense, they'd understand just why and how her lies gall people. But then, we're talking about the left. They celebrate lies and the liars who tell them.
She'll either cry more crocodile tears or storm out of the room... um ...of the stage.
She hung up on Tony Snow ,when it came to tough questions and another talk radio host after that.
I'll be watching it, just to see if I am right.
"She would sit there speechless."
No, here modus operandi is to hang up like she did on Tony Snow!!
"She sees his death as a ticket to celebrity-dom. She is a) sick b) disgusting."
I gave her the benifit of the doubt until I heard her on Tony Snow. You are right on.
Yes, and you'll note that she has now stated she will refuse to file her taxes again next year.
I wonder if it is she is worried it might come out who is paying her?
Soros has his hand up her ass back, and is working her mouth. And has been doing so for years.
Remember, she was the star of Soros' "Real Voices" campaign, last fall.
That was funny........what a flake she is......
I'd almost rather they talked about the fake Karl Rove scandal than this emotional basketcase crap. I know it sounds callous, but it would have been better to lose 2000 troops the first few months of the war and thats the end of it instead of this 4 deaths a day crap. If Iraq is like this in 2006, the House Democrats might win a few seats.
If the Army calls me up I need to be sure and type a farewell letter expressing my delight in serving my country, and that no post-mortem protest/statement by a family member represents me in the slightest. In a nutshell: Honor my service, and then STFU.
Heh. Very nearly flatlining. Seems I recall a sugar daddy keeping this bunch afloat, but it's been a while since I've read anything about 'em. Come to think of it, isn't Billy Bob Gates associated with Salon??? Maybe defective memory...
I wonder if former Carter speechwriter Chris "This War" Matthews wrote her talking points?
LOL----I guess that is a way to deflect critisizm for not paying your taxes....pretend it is a "protest" over the war? Right, Cindy....you are NOT fooling anyone..
BUT, I hope all of the dumb dems send her a bunch of money. The more of their money down the toilet is less they will have to spend on campaigns...
The problem is that she has made this situation...all about her.... and it isn't.
Excellent point, and it should be repeated daily in situations like this one.
"During the Clinton years, the MSM imediately did thorough background checks on all Clinton critics, pointing out their political affiliations, motivations, funding sources, personal peccadillos, etc. But that kind of analysis is now considered off-limits when it comes to Bush's critics."
One word: FREEDOM.
It is the thing which defeated fascism. It is the thing which defeated communism. It is the thing which will defeat terrorism. It showed on the purple digits of the people of Iraq when they tasted it for the first time in their lives. It showed on the faces of the people of Afghanistan when they tasted it for the first time in their lives. Nothing is sweeter. Nothing is more fulfilling. Nothing can replace it or replicate it. Nothing is more worth fighting for. Nothing is more worth sacrificing for.
Why did her son die? So his mother could see the results of his sacrifice on the faces of formerly oppressed people. So she could know that by his sacrifice, the world was made a little bit safer from the hydra of terrorism.
Why is his mother doing this now? She has listened to seemingly sympathetic voices and has not recognized them as the "America is Evil" cabal who took delight in seeing her son's flag-draped coffin. They revel in American body counts. They rejoice in American casualties. She has become a pawn to the very people who would disparage her son if he were still alive with placards saying they support the troops when they kill each other.
Alas, she has become a pitiable tool. All too willingly.

Cute.....this man tries to make her opposition to the war the flip-flop accusation.
BUT, THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. She always was opposed to the war. That is her right.
The flip-flop is on her statement on how Bush ACTED during the meeting.
She originally said he was compassionate and concerned. Now she says he was arrogant, detached, and did not even know the son's name.
That is the flip-flop. If Bush truly was acting as she says he did now, there is simply no way she could have said anything nice about him the first time.
It has nothing to do with her feeling toward the war.
She is a liar because of how she has changed her characterization about how Bush acted during the meeting.
I don't think she's being used by the Left. I think she's a leftist herself and is perfectly willing to lead the parade and carry a banner.
