RICHMOND, Va. - Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry Kilgore on Monday denounced public funding for immigrant day laborer centers and supported a proposal to give police authority to indefinitely detain arrested illegal immigrants and turn them over to federal immigration authorities.
"To use taxpayer dollars to make employment of those who are here illegally is to further encourage that illegal behavior," Kilgore said.

Funding these day labor centers is like setting up taverns at drunk driving checkpoints.
Illegal - it has a meaning.
If they plan to ignore the law, then such politicians should just be honest and run on a platform of repealing those laws.
Let's see how many votes they get.

FYI: Your tax dollars hard at work > > funding day labor centers for illegal aliens.
What's wrong with that?
(I am hearing that in some of these 'day labor centers' that the illegal aliens are actually taxied to the work sites by local law enforcement. Does anyone have a link on any of that, please?)

So candidate Kilgore is taking a strong stand on a burning issue.
I personally believe this will be to his benefit (and hopefully ours, as well). Illegal immigration is the grassroots issue of this decade and if only other Republicans figured it out and acted on it we would all be better off.

Thank you, Mr. Kilgore, for daring to say that the law should be enforced and that taxpayer money should not be used to encourage illegal immigration, wage and safety law violations, and employer dodging of Social Security tax and state and Federal tax laws. Now, be prepared for the libs and illegal immigrant lobby to vilify you as a callous, racist, xenophobe.

My gosh. This guy Jerry Kilgore is going someplace, fast!
First stop, Governor,... 2006...
Next stop, President,... 2008!

Thank you for that.
Wonder . . will Kilgore be castigated and ostracized the same manner that Tancredo has been for his stand against illegal alien immigration?
(Or is it a trend?)

He also issued an opinion to the state colleges and universities that illegal aliens should not pay in-state tuition rates. He took a lot of heat on that one too.
