PROTESTING SOLDIER MOM CHANGED STORY ON BUSH Mon Aug 08 2005 10:11:07 ET
The mother of a fallen U.S. soldier who is holding a roadside peace vigil near President Bush's ranch -- has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!
Cindy Sheehan, 48, of Vacaville, Calif., who last year praised Bush for bringing her family the "gift of happiness," took to the nation's TV outlets this weekend to declare how Bush "killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity."

THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004:
"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith.'
"The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.
"The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.
"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.
For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.
"'That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together,' Cindy said."

Sheehan's current comments are a striking departure.
She vowed on Sunday to continue her protest until she can personally ask Bush: "Why did you kill my son?"
In an interview on CNN, she claimed Bush "acted like it was party" when she met him last year.
"It was -- you know, there was a lot of things said. We wanted to use the time for him to know that he killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity. And we wanted him to look at the pictures of Casey.
"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name. He came in the room and the very first thing he said is, 'So who are we honoring here?' He didn't even know Casey's name. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear anything about Casey. He wouldn't even call him 'him' or 'he.' He called him 'your loved one.'
Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party.
BLITZER: Like a party? I mean...
SHEEHAN: Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died for his misguided policies. He didn't even pretend like somebody...
END
On her current media tour, Sheehan has not been asked to explain her twist on Bush; from praise to damnation!
Developing...
laziness....this could have been found with a simple lexis nexis search.
I'm proud of her son , but ashamed of his mother . Perhaps she can team up with :
Jane Fonda
Micheal Moore
Ted Kennedy
Barbara Boxer
Dick Durbin
And you know the rest .
Yep. I knew I'd already seen this on FR. Perhaps after Drudge finishes "developing" this story, he'll mention where he got the info? Maybe? lol
Its been very obvious that this woman has been someone who is looking for attention. I have no respect for someone who tries to bring attention to their self by using the death of a love one.
I'm shocked! Then I am so easily shocked.
Great job by the Freeper
In addition, the MSM will take note of it and can't wiggle out of it quite so easily.
The story goes that the young Greek hoplite went to his mother on the eve of leaving for battle and expressed some trepidation about fighting the Persians.
What were essentially shoving/spear-thrusting matches ended sometimes when a few on one side threw down their shields and ran from the field.
The Greek's mother advised her son, "Either return with your shield, or upon it."
Certainly, our countryman's mother is grieving, but she dishonors her son's bravery and sacrifice.
Between this whiner
and Natalee's mother, I've
had enough of Moms . . .
You can empathize with this woman as a grieving mother, but as a political (perhaps compensated) activist, she's fair game. Thus said, she is a two-faced opportunist and a cosmic disgrace to our nation for which her son gave his life. Perhaps the Peoples' Republic of Kalifornistan will view her in a kinder light.
Good catch by Drudge? More like a good catch by Freeper tgslTakoma, and a good heist by Drudge. I'm glad he's giving it the publicity it deserves, but I wish he'd give proper credit for the find.
One of these days that mother will come to regret these actions as they disrespect the honor, the dignity of her son.
Now just why would President Bush seek to meet with family members? To dishonor their loved ones? To throw a party fun for all? For a press release?
No, he would meet with them to talk, to respect their loved one with the highest honor he can give - time spent with the President of the United States. And, why hold an event to deepen the sadness the visitors feel. No, he would make sure the occasion would be honoring the joy of those lives, would lighten the load if at all possible for the grievers for a few minutes.
So, one day when she realizes that instead of honoring the memory of her son, she tarnished it and cast him in a bad light. Then she will grieve over her actions for a few dollars, for a few minutes of attention, for whatever.
But, her actions in no way honor the dignity of her son.
Yes, I really am glad he posted the story. Credit where due would have been a nice touch, however. Far too many "journalists" and columnists wait until Freepers have done the legwork, then they run with the story as if it were their own.
I empathize with her. However, there are many other parents of heroes who have fallen in combat, that do not make it a point to bash the President, the war effort, or make good propoganda for Al Jazeera or the defeatist Chris Matthews.
BINGO!
Since April, Cindy has traveled all over the country telling Casey's story. She also started an organization called RealVoices.org, with a focus on filming commercials telling real stories of those greatly impacted by the Bush Administration. The spots were aired before the election in swing states.

June 17, 2005 speech: "It appears that my boy Casey was given a death sentence even before he joined the Army in May of 2000."

This woman is off her rocker - her boy was given a death sentence even before he joined the Army. What a loon! Yep. Karl Rove hypnotized her son into joining the Army and then had him executed in a fake ambush. PFFFT!
