Good, I want a share of them casinos... maybe one day they'll consider a native a person born in the town.... Of course that would make too much sense.

If the school is completely private and receives no taxpayer funding whatsoever, then the school should be free to set whatever admissions policy it feels is just.

I do sympathize with the Hawaiians, but if it is illegal for other private schools to have a race based admissions policy, it has to be illegal for Hawaiians as well.

Blowing conch shells and chanting Hawaiian prayers, some 15,000 people marched through downtown Honolulu Saturday to protest a federal court ruling striking down Kamehameha Schools' Hawaiians-only admissions policy as unlawful. I'll never understand why it's not racist to have a Hawaiians-only school, when it's long been held that it's racist to have a whites-only anything.

Ouch! That one has to hurt. And it's going to leave a mark too.
I sometimes sympathize with people trying to maintain their racial purity.
Then I come to my senses.

A purely private school should be able to enforce whatever admissions/selection policy it wants to for whatever reason it wants to. Why? Not even private country clubs enjoy that kind of protection anymore.

I know they don't.
But they should.

I would agree with you except that here on the mainland we have been subject to these rules for years and it is just an accepted fact that you can't discriminate on the basis of race.

Not making a value judgment here. Just putting things into perspective.
In other words, the surprise, disappointment and outrage rings hollow. This sort of thing has been going on for decades and nobody's doing anything to stem the tide. I'm just saying that people can spare the wasted bytes and wasted breath.

Can anyone tell me when men will be allowed to join every "women only" health club in this country? Only then will My People, the Men, know freedom!

If the school is completely private and receives no taxpayer funding whatsoever, then the school should be free to set whatever admissions policy it feels is just. It is interesting in this case, because I have been to these schools, and they are very rich with every facility a student of teacher could desire. The kids enroll in grade K and matriculate to graduation with the same kids. Obviously a school system anyone would want their kids in. When I was there I was unaware that it was native only. It looks like Political Correctness may not have made an inroad on the islands.
