LOL! It is an absolutely gorgeous day here in the SF Bay area. I was just getting ready to go out for a walk, but then I saw Wolfstar putting up the dose, and could not pass it up. I know I'm addicted! (No, I'm not blaming YOU, Wolfstar!)

Wish I could have found a date for when the President is going out to the ranch, but I'm guessing it might be Monday. Haven't seen the First Lady in any pics today, so it's possible she may have gone on ahead to the ranch.

Like you, she has an elderly mom, and I think sometimes when Laura kind of disappears from public view for a few days, that she may be with her mom.

I am amazed by the statistic of 5% I thought that the US was the country of the personal trainer and the local gyms. I know that the obesity figures are very high for the US but I thought that there was also a lot of people that exercised somehow I had the picture of 2 extremes

I do not know the figures but I am certain that it is more than 5% for adults in the UK judging by the number of people at work who either work out or are involved in local sports.

The people who work out are avid, but there aren't very many.

Did you see the article, I think it was posted here on FR, about President Bush's interview with a potential supreme, and they were getting all "snarky" about President Bush asking him how much he exercised?

I'm pretty much a couch potato myself, but I always find time to walk a little every day. Mostly, it's down to the local pub for a cold one, though, totally defeating my purpose!

A source of supply for these items are the TSA airport screeners. I hear they have 50 TONS of confiscated knives, lighters, scissors, etc. [/off sarcasm -- partly]

My theory on why we are catching up with obesity figures is because of the supply of cheap food. I do not know if it is the case in the US but in Britain you can get a bag of 10 donuts from the supermarket for under 2.00 dollars, massive bag of chips (french fries) for a few pence and as for the value range (the one cheaper than the own brand range) they are full of fat, salt and preservatives but they are cheap.

The consumer has demanded cheap food but the quality and calories pay the cost.

He enjoys an occasional cigar, gets his caffeine from diet sodas and coffee

I always wondered about this. Glad to see our guy is human. Now the real question is: Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi? Inquiring minds want to know!

We dog lovers here on the Dose really do miss seeing the Scotties as often as in the past. I realize it's not cost-effective to have a government photographer snapping photos of dogs every day, but the dogs do have their fans, sigh.

Re the physical exam: Yeah, swell, now what can we do about his unusually high tolerance for disrespectful reporters? That can't be healthy.

I love that photo in #17, too. I'm always taken by his interesting expressions.

That's one of the unusual things about President Bush, he doesn't seem to get nasty to people in public. Well, there was the comment about the one reporter, "big time", (which I got a huge laugh out of). Wonder what he says in private, for Laura's ears only. He surely has to vent.
