Mansour El-Kikhia: Arabs shouldn't have to apologize [YOUR RELIGION IS CULT OF DEATH ALERT]
San Antonio Express-News ^ | July 29, 2005 | Mansour El-Kikhia

Posted on 07/29/2005 5:41:10 AM PDT by conservativecorner

I am fed up with the ceaseless requests by columnists, religious personalities and other American public figures for Arabs and Muslims to apologize for terrorist acts committed by thugs and murderers in the name of Islam.

As far as I am concerned, the final straw came a couple of weeks ago when the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, paid for a national advertisement repudiating terrorism in the name of Islam.

As soon as the advertisement was broadcast on America's media, I read a column by one of the nation's most ardent Islam-phobic columnists, Cal Thomas, now also a FOX News personality, which plowed into CAIR's reconciliation efforts. Long before 9-11, Thomas' writings were full of venom for Arabs and Muslims. He represents a despicable and ignorant attitude that, unfortunately, a sizable segment of America has come to share. There is nothing American Muslims can do to satisfy this group short of packing up and leaving the United States.

I disagree with what CAIR did, and I also disagree with this groveling and begging for forgiveness, as though American Arabs and Muslims are responsible for those atrocities. CAIR knows better, and those running it know that Islam rejects all acts of violence outside self-defense. Arab and Muslim Americans are responsible for neither the twin towers nor the London subway bombings, and as Americans they should never accept responsibility for actions they did not instigate, commit or condone.

Furthermore, in spite of the fact they are constantly condemned for one thing or another, they — like other Americans — are victims of these murderers. Does anyone think they are pleased to have their movements and telephone conversations monitored or that coercive and freedom-depriving laws are tailored for them? Does anyone in his or her right mind really believe that being an Arab American or a Muslim is pleasant in America today?

The United States has lost 3,000 souls to terrorist thugs, but that figure is miniscule compared to the 60,000 Algerians or the 25,000 Iraqis who also have died at their hands. These thugs don't differentiate between Muslim and non-Muslim, Arab and non-Arab when they plant a bomb or enter a village at night and murder everyone.

It is rejection of U.S. and British policies in the Middle East, not Islam, that has promoted terrorism against America. And for the benefits of those who do not know, 95 percent of Middle Easterners are Muslims. Hence, it is only natural that those opposing the United States and Britain in the region would be Muslims. In India, they would have been Hindu; in Latin America or Northern Ireland, they would have been Catholic.

More important, it was the British and the United States that drew first blood. The Middle East didn't come to America or go to Britain; rather, America and Britain went to the Middle East. Both powers used and abused regimes, toppling some and keeping others in power. They never thought that the people they were helping suppress were human beings with needs, beliefs and emotions. They didn't care as long as their interests were served.

America's experience in the Middle East is no different from its Southeast Asia stint, and look at the mess it left in that region.

However, while the calamity of Vietnam, Laos and Kampuchea might be rationalized by the Cold War or even a domino theory, there is nothing to rationalize the invasion of Iraq except ideological stupidity. The United States illegally invaded and decimated a country that did not threaten its security and, in the process, unleashed one of the most vile and ruthless insurgencies the region has ever seen. And as it did in Vietnam, when the going got tough, it is planning to pull out. The result will be a protracted instability and turmoil that no country in the region can escape.

Future turmoil in the region is exactly what the instigators of the Iraq invasion have planned all along. They had made their desire for strife in the Middle East known long before the invasion of Iraq. Yet they underestimated the consequences of their lunacy and set into motion processes and events that will make the United States less secure and threaten the lives of Americans for many years to come.

Well, since Muslims seems incapable of cleaning up Islam from the inside I would say that packing up and leaving the US is a good idea. Come back when Islam poses no threat to anyone....

My eye caught his column this morning as I read the online Express-News. I am glad you caught it and posted it.
This guy seems to continually make outrageous statements.

Yes, we're picking on the 14th century-minded jihadists who swept through much of the Middle East and Europe converting by the sword. And who revere those glorious days of old because nothing they've done since has been anything greater than small gangs of street thugs have been able to accomplish.

The Middle East has been denuded and desertified by their primitive agricultural practices. The culture that invented the "0" now preaches only death and destruction because that's all they know any more. There are no great schools or philosophies or physical advancements or, well, anything. They are culturally bankrupt and have no dream or ideal beyond the Ummah.

Trouble is, once Ummah is attained, then what? What does it even look like? What will it do? No idea.

I'm not sure how to pull these people out of a philosophical Stone Age and at least into the 20th century. But until they leave the 14th century, they will be treated with contempt and a certain amount of pity by those of us who have bothered to maintain morality in a 21st century environment.

"He represents a despicable and ignorant attitude"

Funny that Mansour should feel this way, since the same is often said about him--he's an America-hating refugee from an Islamic country where he has a death warrant on his head...

OUTRAGE: United Nations Human Rights Commission, European Union Refuse to Condemn Public Floggings & Executions, But Still Complains about U.S. Prisoner “Abuse” By Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

Islamic Mullah’s Henchmen Hang 18 Year-Old & Juvenile

The Islamic clerical regime’s henchmen publicly hanged two young boys in Edalat (Justice) Square in Mashhad (northeast Iran). One was 18 and the other below 18 years of age. Before hanging the victims, the henchmen flogged each of them 228 times. The executioners wore masks fearing reprisals and anti-riot forces put the entire area under their control to prevent outbreak of public protests.

The victims were charged with disrupting public order among other things. They had been imprisoned since 14 months ago, meaning that they were 16 years old at the time of the alleged offenses.

The rise in public executions, including those of juveniles, comes as the European Union has refused in the past three years to table a resolution at the United Nations Human Rights Commission to condemn the violations of human rights in Iran.

WHERE IS THE INTERNATIONAL OUTRAGE?

This epitomizes the very essence of Islam...

July 15,2005
"After London attack, cleric urges: 'Annihilate infidels' Less than a day after the terrorist bombings in London, the Palestinian Authority's official television channel broadcast a sermon calling for extermination of all non-Muslims. "Annihilate the Infidels and the Polytheists! Your [Allah's] enemies are the enemies of the religion!" said Suleiman Al-Satari in a July 8 broadcast translated by Israel-based Palestinian Media Watch, or PMW. "Allah," the cleric continued, "disperse their gathering and break up their unity, and turn on them, the evil adversities. Allah, count them and kill them to the last one, and don't leave even one." http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1443850/posts

...there is nothing to rationalize the invasion of Iraq...

Except Saddam's support of terrorism worldwide, his ongoing pursuit and use of WMD's, his invasion of neighboring countries, his aggressive stance, and his defiance of UN resolutions, his links to the OKC bombers, his attempted assassination of a former President, ....

There is nothing American Muslims can do to satisfy this group short of packing up and leaving the United States.

Can you leave soon, please?

The culture that invented the "0" now preaches only death and destruction because that's all they know any more.

The Indians (as in India) invented zero. Arabic traders spread the use of zero, hence "Arabic numerals" but the Indians invented the concept of zero AND the numeral system. So you are even more right than you know. :0)

You insult the (relatively) progressive 14th century mind.... the Jihadis are stuck in the 7th or 8th century: they represent a spirit of the darkest portion of the Dark Ages (I know, the term's not politically correct anymore, but ....)

Well...you know what they say...

Don't let the door hit ya in the...posterior.

But on a serious note...it is also evident that there is nothing Americans can do to satisfy the Islamanazis short of absolutely and totally accepting all things Islam/Muslim and accepting the koran as the law of the land.

Ha! Yeah...when pigs fly out of my..., well, the same place I hope the door doesn't hit them on the way the hell out of the US.

Get going, pal. I have always had a good heart, but these guys are making me mad. I think we are getting close to a boiling point for a lot of Americans. If they attack again, it might be too much to restrain.

This is his previous column:

Misguided policies scare off supporters

Last week some readers' responses to my previous column were rough. The Express-News provided me with copies of their letters. These, along with direct e-mail sent to me by furious readers answered a few important questions in my mind.

I also got a number of voice recordings on a friend's machine whose wife was disturbed and frightened by what she heard. I have no idea how the messages got there, but the individuals who left them for me took the opportunity to degrade all Arabs, Mexicans and other Latinos.

According to these feeble-minded racists, we are beyond redemption and are the cause of all of America's ills. I decided to keep the recordings and play them to my students to remind them that racism and intolerance although disguised are very much alive and are on the rise.

A couple of readers were elated their nastiness and lack of manners "got under my skin." Ill manners do get under my skin, and I have accumulated enough letters from such individuals to demonstrate the sheer, unadulterated hatred displayed by some toward me, Arabs and Muslims.

More worrisome to me are the e-mails I received from readers who are afraid to speak up. The prospect of having their homes "egged" or their lives threatened cows them into silence. Many feel ashamed and guilty for allowing themselves to be intimidated. It is so incredible that in a country that claims to be "the land of the free" such intolerance and hostility to dissenting voices should exist.

The current killing and mayhem in the Middle East are presented as the cost of imparting "democracy and freedom" to the Iraqis. I have neither the time nor space to go into a long exposé of what freedom and democracy mean to those advocating this view. Perhaps it will suffice to ask: Shouldn't we remove the façade and align our rhetoric with our actions or vice versa?

Shouldn't charity begin at home? And shouldn't we encourage divergent points of view and attitudes at home before we tell others they must do it?

Polls conducted by a number of public opinion outlets during the past few weeks indicate President Bush's approval rating has dipped to 42 percent, and over 60 percent of Americans do not approve of what Congress is doing. These polls also indicate there has been little shift in party affiliation, which leads me to believe that in addition to the independents, some Republicans are having second thoughts about the state of the union.

Why the shift?

Unfortunately, to stay in power this administration and its supporters inflate insecurity and the threats of terrorism, and to silence any opposition diligently promote fear and intimidation. Simply stated, therefore, I believe the fear factor is beginning to wear off and the stark realities of screwy policies are beginning to bubble to the surface.

Reliance on fear as a control mechanism in democratic societies has its drawbacks. Primary among these is the emergence of a legitimacy paralysis. This results from a situation where voters endow legitimacy on a government out of fear and irrespective of other important political, economic and cultural considerations.

But with the fear factor declining, many are beginning to see a wide gap between what they legitimized and what they really want. Indeed this group is not hampered by the belief that God anointed the government.

Those who believe are convinced that nothing the government does is wrong and must be supported at all costs, including at the expense of civil liberties.

Hence, it is not so strange to see popular opposition to Bush's political, economic and cultural agendas. The Democrats are already referring to the current administration, less than one year into its second term, as a lame duck presidency.

Republicans who hold a majority in Congress are also beginning to see the writing on the wall, and although they do not say so, they act as though it already is a dead and buried duck.

This is a timely example of the PR mistake many Muslims are making in the US. I mentioned it in a thread yesterday at the link below:
