That's right.

Here are some other tidbits about Larry (maybe we should say "There's Something About Larry"). I did a search on msn and here are some of the things that came up (you may need to take a shower after visiting some of these sites. 2 things I learned that I didn't know (or forgot)
1) he was a classmate of Val's at the CIA
2) he was at the State Dept after being in the CIA.

I've included a link to his company site and an article he wrote about terrorism in 1998 at the bottom of this post and 1 to the PBS News Hour in 2003, where he was part of a round-table discussion when the investigation was 1st announced (next to last below). The sites he's posted on are all leftists (one might say wacko) sites. He's also a guest on some of these shows and there are claims that he's a registered Republican or gave $s to the Bush campaign (maybe Bush 1?). If I weren't the suspicious type when it comes to Dims, I might say that he's just a friend sticking up for a friend (Plame)and his old employer (CIA). However, I have a strange feeling that it's something more than that - just can't put my finger on it yet (except that maybe he's trying to hide something, too?). It seems he's coming out a lot and quite strongly all of a sudden and primarily on left-wing sites (is he trying to stir something up?) Me thinks he doest protest too much.

Article: The Big Lie About Valerie Plame - Larry Johnson (July 13, 2005): Interesting tidbit - Lar and Val were classmates at the CIA together - don't recall hearing this before. Other than that he just talks about how Bush, Toesning, etc. are lying and poor Joe, Val, etc. and "Here are the facts. Bush's lies have resulted in the deaths of almost 1800 American soldiers and the mutilation of 12,000. Joe Wilson has not killed anyone. He tried to prevent the needless death of Americans and the loss of American prestige in the world."

Sorry, but I can't bring myself to go into michaelmoore.com
Here's the blurb from the search though. Interesting, Larry claims to be a registered Republican - he's also apparently been/will be on

Code Rove
A Treasonous Act
This is not a partisan issue. Back in October of 2003, shortly after Robert Novak -- over CIA protests -- published Plame's identity, a group of former CIA agents testified before a Senate Democratic Policy Committee on the outing of their colleague. The agents, Larry Johnson, Michael Grimaldi and Brent Cavan, all of whom are Republicans, pulled no punches in their shared statement:
We also want to send a clear message to the political “operatives” responsible for “outing” Mrs. Wilson. Such action was treacherous, if not treasonous. ... Such action has allowed the less attractive aspects of politics to supersede the Government's responsibility to protect the citizens of this nation and the individuals who serve in difficult, dangerous covert capacities. This has set a sickening precedent. The “senior Administration officials” who did this have warned all U.S. intelligence officers and the intelligence community that any one individual may be compromised if providing information or factual analysis the White House does not like.

If left unpunished, this cowardly act [blowing Plame's cover] will not only hinder our efforts to recruit qualified individuals into the clandestine service, but it will have a far-reaching, deleterious effect on our ability to recruit foreign intelligence assets overseas. Who in their right mind would ever agree to become a spy for the United States when we cannot even protect our own undercover officers?

MR. BUSH, HAVE YOU NO SHAME?
BY Larry C. Johnson July 17, 2005

IN THE SHADOWS (PBS News Hour Show)
September 30, 2003

The Justice Department announced Tuesday that it would launch an investigation into who disclosed the identity of a covert CIA agent, a leak the Washington Post reported occurred when unidentified White House officials called at least six journalists with the information. Terence Smith gets two expert views on what journalists' obligations are to both their sources and the public.

[Note: Larry Johnson was included in this roundtable discussion - he mentioned here that he went to school w Plame and that he donated $ to G. Bush's campaign)

Larry is a partner at Berg Associates, LLC
Here's a little of his bio:
Larry C. Johnson is CEO and co-founder of BERG Associates, LLC, an international business-consulting firm that helps multinational corporations and financial institutions identify strategic opportunities, manage risks, and counter threats posed by terrorism and money laundering.

From 1989 until October 1993, Larry Johnson served as a Deputy Director in the U.S. State Department’s Office of Counter Terrorism. He managed crisis response operations for terrorist incidents throughout the world and he helped organize and direct the US Government’s debriefing of US citizens held in Kuwait and Iraq, which provided vital intelligence on Iraqi operations following the 1990 invasion of Kuwait. Mr. Johnson also participated in the investigation of the terrorist bombing of Pan Am 103. Under Mr. Johnson’s leadership the U.S. airlines and pilots agreed to match the US Government’s two million-dollar reward.

From 1985 through September 1989 Mr. Johnson worked for the Central Intelligence Agency. During his distinguished career, he received training in paramilitary operations, worked in the Directorate of Operations, served in the CIA’s Operation’s Center, and established himself as a prolific analyst in the Directorate of Intelligence.

He has a publication on the same site (it appears to have been written in 1998:
Is Terrorism Getting Worse? by Larry C. Johnson
http://www.berg-associates.com/newpage11.htm
Here's the last part of that article:

CHART 7

This data tells us where we have been, but does not tell us where we are going. Recent hype by President Clinton and Secretary Albright that we are facing a "new terrorist war" is not helpful. You cannot have a "new" war when the "old" war never ended. The United States has been fighting this threat for almost thirty years. Terrorism is not spiraling out of control but neither has it disappeared.

Yet, terrorism is not war. It is a form of political violence but we should not confuse it with the massive commitment of ground, sea, and air forces that typify a genuine war. More men died in one day on Omaha Beach in 1944 than died from terrorism in the last ten years. Terrorism can be used to provoke a war (e.g. World War I), but its value as a tactic for shifting political fortunes is limited.

We have had some important successes capturing and deterring terrorists. Our experience over the past decade suggests instead that sound policies, aggressive law enforcement, and good intelligence yield important results in containing terrorism. Moreover, there is circumstantial evidence that groups and individuals that advocate terrorism are losing support rather than winning adherents.
For the United States and other nations the task is maintain pressure on states and groups that engage in terrorism by disrupting their capabilities and limiting their targets of opportunity. By doing so we will improve our chances that terrorism will become an isolated, rare phenomena.

Oddly, a few weeks ago I heard Hume ask him something along the the lines of "Since you're a personal friend of Clarence Thomas, do you think he would be able to be confirmed in the Senate today? "

Needless to say, I nearly fell out of my chair because I can not imagine the two being personal friends. Stranger still....Juan said yes, at which point Hume and the rest of the panel laughed.

Jeez, I'm stunned. Is that really true? (feeling the ground shifting here...)

I know what you meant. Nowadays, it's pretty easy to tell liberals from moderate/conservatives. Down South, any dem is a liberal. Of course, you know, it didn't used to be this way. The Southern democrat party used to be the most conservative political group in the USA. The last of the great conservative dems left with Zell Miller. Now all that's left in the Southern democrat part is left wing barking moonbats, homosexuals, tree huggers, black racists and their brethren they scare into staying dem, Clintooninan grifters, and the senile elderly who haven't realized the Southern dems have turned 180 degrees.

Charles Krauthammer on FNC predicted that Judge Roberts will be more of an O'Conner who upholds precedent rather than a Rehnquist who rules on what the constitution says.

I don't watch CBS/NBC/ABC/CNN/PBS for news or commentaries because of their clear bias, I get too upset and enraged so I stay tuned to Fox. It is amazing to me the audacity of these people...

Steffie is so anxious to get Rove out, he is almost as bad as Matthews. McCain seems to be getting a bit exasperated with him.

No they really are friends. Was Juan's book written before or after he was accused of sexual harassment himself at the WaPo?

I am looking forward to the DoJ report about the Rove "leak" which will blow out in their faces...I am sure tho, they will give it a spin where they'll come out smelling like roses.

Saw Wilson on TV while I was on vacation. He said that it didn't matter if Rove did nothing illegal, he should be fired for abuse of power.

I happened to catch Jonathan Turley on MSNBC this morning. He said repeatedly that Roberts is a "profound conservative."

Turley said that he had looked at all of the O'Connor decisions where she sided with the liberals and it was his opinion that Roberts would vote opposite on all of them.

Turley also said that the decision was made by Rove and that it was the most brilliant nomination in history.

I found his comments a bit over done, but they were very encouraging.

Why would ANY official from the admin or the Senate and Congress agree to sit with a DNC operative and be lectured to and berated on natl TV?

I have been saying for 10 years, as long as the "right" continues this silly pretense of considering them the "news" media, the more power the NY elite amass.

Of course no one listens to me.

It is my fondest hope. Is anyone listening to Leahy. The SC can change law. The federal district courts don't matter much, just a bunch of puppets of the SC (not his words, but the implication), and the district courts aren't part of the system of checks and balances and don't protect the rights of ALL the people. Could Leahy be as dumb as he sounds?

I don't think so. Attorney work product is not discoverable. Releasing items like these would be a terrible precedent. The privilege belongs to the client, I believe, and that client is the Administration. However, Leaky just said that, since these guys work for the government, they work for all the people, so I guess I have the right not to waive the privilege. LOL. Such a maroon.
