China's new destroyers feature Aegis tech copied from U.S.

China's military put its new guided missile destroyers on display last week, disclosing its two new warships that are equipped with Aegis-type battle management systems.

Two new Luyang II guided missile destroyers are part of China's naval builduup.

The two Luyang II guided missile destroyers are Beijing's first Aegis-type ships. The ships are currently undergoing sea trials. U.S. intelligence officials say China stole the technology for the Aegis battle management system by setting up a front company in the United States that became a subcontractor for the Aegis system manufacturer.

The Chinese also showed two other new guided missile destroyers, known as Luyang I. Both types of destroyers are equipped with Russian military equipment and weapons, including missiles, as well as indigenous Chinese anti-ship missiles.

The four warships are part of China's military buildup that U.S. officials say is designed for more than just a Taiwan conflict. The Chinese are building a deep-water navy able to project power, especially against the United States

Good post...

"Why we trade with these communist thugs and help strengthen their economy and their military capability is beyond my understanding."

I think this article (link below) written by Thomas P.M. Barnett (Advisor to both the Bush administration and the Pentagon) explains the "logic" (being polite) as to why those in power continue this type of disasterous (IMO) foreign policy concerning China and other countries considered yet to be fully included in the desired "Globalization" that we are hearing about more and more these days. It also includes the "logic" as to why we should have gone in to Iraq... WMD's or not.

I first found this article at www.cfr.org but is no longer there. I believe Mr. Barnett is a CFR member in good standing as are most of our top politicians and their advisors.

All I can hope is that Clinton gets back in person what he sold so willingly.

And there was an article last week discussing how the system was bought from the Russians.

Since the latest BRAC round I notice a bombardment of these articles. I'm beginning to wonder if some of these analyst are paid by the US ship building lobby.

Shhhhh. Don't tell the Chinese about the remotely operated super secret "back door" controllers buried in the ocean that can be used to turn the aegis systems off.

Barnett was appointed by Bill Xlinton. An anti-nationalist. All in favor of regional blocs. He has no national security knowledge or expertise, but he got to lecture at all of our generals and admirals from his perch in the Naval War College, with mandatory seminars they were forced to attend. Sample Barnett opinion: Reagan never won the Cold war, the Soviets collapsed of their own accord. Barnett comes out of the History program from the Red University of Wisconsin program. He then got his PhD at Harvard under the respected anti-communist Dr. Richard C. Pipes, but was apparently a contrarian who constantly hewed against the conclusions of his Professor. He must have come to the attention of Clinton's Deputy Secretary of State, Strobe Talbott, and gotten jumped over all those militarily knowledgeable when he was politically hired into the War College...way over his level. But give the Devil his due, he had a lot of hutzpa, and never flinched from issuing know-it-all liberal opinions. His comprehension of naval, aerospace and strategic defense issues is precisely nil. E.g., He assumes the U.S. navy merely has to show up and it wins. He assumes that China would Never attack the U.S.

Fortunately, Barnett was fired by Donald Rumsfeld this December. Too bad it wasn't 5 years ago. He apparently hit it off with Chenye and likely Rice, and badly injected his liberalism into our foreign policy thinking that has manifestly percolated up to GWB himself. Only after it came out that Barnett had been backing...and heavily contributing to... John Kerry the whole way...did things finally come to an end. Shutting down his little inside-confidence operation. His primary errors were one of economic determinism, ignoring the other major drivers of the human condition.

So who do we blame? When did it happen? Who was on watch at FBI?

So is there anything we still have a strong edge in? Strong enough to repel the ChiComs from Taiwan?

We still The Second Amendment, but where are we going to get 1.3+ billion rounds of ammo?

My closet, to start out with

Anybody with firearms should have at least a thousand rounds for each firearm, because you can be certain that you will not be able to get ammo in stores if the time comes that you really need it

The Soviets stole our stuff, too, all through the years. Remember when a Soviet trawler rushed to pick up a discarded rocket launcer from one of the moon missions? Right out in the open water for all the world to see. Ayn Rand made the point (former Soviet citizen herself) that under dictatorship, creativity and thought is frozen. The evil totalitarians survive by stealing the higher level technology from free countries. Same with the terrorists. Those savages could not do anything without the universities that educated their leadership.

Is this in the Cox Report? Maybe we need another round of investigations? The last WMT trade was 49.54, by the way.

The Aegis system was designed to be a key element of a carrier group, not an independent weapons system.

That aside, I wonder if you can buy one at the Chinese products only Walmarts?

"Aegis? Yep, that would be isle 12, next to the gas grills."

Taiwan is pretty much a lost cause I'm afraid, the Chicoms are going to take and there is little we can do to stop it. It is not getting into a potentially deadly confrontation with them over.

And it would not take a single round. The Boomers would do our talking. Of course, once that happens MAD rules are in effect.
