An Image A Little Too Carefully Coordinated (Roberts)

It has been a long time since so much syrupy nostalgia has been in evidence at the White House. But Tuesday night, when President Bush announced his choice for the next associate justice of the Supreme Court, it was hard not to marvel at the 1950s-style tableau vivant that was John Roberts and his family.
There they were -- John, Jane, Josie and Jack -- standing with the president and before the entire country. The nominee was in a sober suit with the expected white shirt and red tie. His wife and children stood before the cameras, groomed and glossy in pastel hues -- like a trio of Easter eggs, a handful of Jelly Bellies, three little Necco wafers. There was tow-headed Jack -- having freed himself from the controlling grip of his mother -- enjoying a moment in the spotlight dressed in a seersucker suit with short pants and saddle shoes. His sister, Josie, was half-hidden behind her mother's skirt. Her blond pageboy glistened. And she was wearing a yellow dress with a crisp white collar, lace-trimmed anklets and black patent-leather Mary Janes.

EXACTLY! Libs are really losing it when all they have to complain about are well-dressed people. Can't find anything about Roberts himself, so attack the family's choice of clothing. Cheez.

Pretty in Pink was okay for the Hildabeest's saccharine TV interview during her term as co-president. Jackie O had a famous pink suit. She dressed young Carolyn in traditional eastern establishment frocks......and remember the little John John in the stereotypical sailor suit?
Count on the Compost to conveniently lose its memory and its mind.

Yeah, white people must hide themselves away in shame.

It's a shoe with a low heel. Taupe is a kind of beige color.

Very petty writing! Unreal, nasty animosity toward good things from the left lowlifes!

You're pretty well right. I think of taupe as more of a beige color but hey, what do I know? I wear clunky SAS shoes but ONE pair is taupe. It's called that anyway, and it's beige.

It's like the food page. One person visits a restaurant and usually writes a scathing report about it, when it's a pretty decent place to eat. I hate that.

Granted it was 40 years ago, but these same morons would be praising Jackie Kennedy for how she dressed her children.
Good grief. So the wife and the kids dressed up for the most important day in their husband/father's life.
Oh, the horrors.

WaPo doublespeak for evil conservative breeders.

Me either. I buy what I like, not what some fashion maven things I should wear. Give me my jeans and a blouse and I'm happy.

The Washington ComPost is nothing but a sick clone of it's socialist sister, the NYT. Be it the Bush Administration's economic policies, foreign policy, the War on Terror, judicial choices, whatever it is, "the Post is agin it".
One thing is for sure: IF (God forbid) there is ever a terrorist attack in Washington D.C., the safest place will be the Post building, because WHY on Earth would al Qaeda attack one of their ALLIES?!?
And of course the same goes double for the NYT in New York.
To: kingu
Probably the same group that fawned over Caroline and John-John in their precious clothes.
To: kingu
People who attend church services across this country on Sunday mornings didn't think a thing about that so-called "1950's" style. Not everybody dresses their kids to reflect the "modern" Hollywood culture...it's a values thing. Decent people like decent clothes.
