The Dems will lose this fight, as they always do. There's nothing they can pin on this guy. But we can count on them to try! Schumer, Durbin & Kennedy are already plotting their next move.

(Congrats Justice Roberts!)
To: God luvs America
How come Leahy can praise O'Connor for not pre-judging cases, and Schumer can criticize Roberts for not offering opinions on cases because Roberts didn't want to pre-judge them?

TURBIN DURBIN HATES THIS PICK....HE RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING THE PRES. PICK A CONTROVERSIAL CANDIDATE.You'd expect Turbin to say anything else. He's against this nominee, against the military, against President Bush, against the United States, against, against, against!!!

As stupid as it may sound, he seemed humble and has a kind faceIt doesn't sound stupid to me. I was very impressed by how shy and, like you said, humble, he seemed while the President was praising him. And I loved how he said he got a lump in his throat just walking up the Supreme Court building stairs.
He seems like a good man and it's been posted that Justice Scalia considers him one of the best, if not the best, attorneys who have argued cases in front of the Supreme Court.
To: Howlin
I'm keeping a much shorter list. The times he's right ;-)

Durbin: By choosing Roberts, the Prsident has chosen a more controversial candidate and thus will create a more confrontative process Music to my ears.

s don't care about ability or intellect, just about abortion. Was before - but, now Hillary is getting backed into a corner. Will be interesting to see how she plays this with the NAGS,

"RUSSERT: "Roberts is enormously capable""
Not only is this undeniable, it would also be unseemly for Russert to say otherwise about a fellow Buffalo, N.Y. native.

I am meeting Ken Mehlman tomorrow, I cannot wait to ask him his opinion on all of this.
To: RobFromGa
Leahy is such a jerk, saying that SCOTUS is much different than apellate court.
He's correct isn't he?..... The appellate courts are bound basically by SCOTUS decisions/etc.

"Schumer saying not enough judicial experience not enough known, needs to answer a wide range of questions FULLY."
Schumer needs to remember how Ginsburg sailed through Committee by not answering all the questions.
