Who was the nominee when you left? ;-)
To: Howlin
Oh, good, you're here. It's Roberts, and the Bush-bashers here have been pretty quiet, and the DU is going insane.
Tomorrow should be quite enjoyable!

Demonstrators carry placards in front of a building near the White House demanding that U.S. President George W. Bush fire his top political aide Karl Rove July 19, 2005 "Fire Karl"I bet that woman was asked repeatedly, "Who's Karl?"

There was NO mention of Roberts by anyoneEveryone was too busy discussing Gonzales. LOL.
How did that rumor begin anyway? Someone noticed Bush and Gonzales are friends and decided that was all it would take?
I know the President didn't say or do anything to lead people to that conclusion.

Looks like Fox finally called in the A-team, Brit Hume, and yanked that bloviating blowhard, O' Reilly, off the air.

John Cornyn just did a good job as front man for the nominee on Fox. He is articulate.
To: silent_jonny
Which is why their whole strategy was stupid.

In all honesty, I believe that one of the VERY FEW people the President could have nominated that would trigger the "Extraordinary Circumstances" clause would have been Bork.
This will not - thus the gang of 14 will vote closure.

Roberts was denied confirmation to the District Court for 10 years, per levin, before finally confirmed a couple years ago. This is an in your face move to the obstructionists.
He was nominated by GHW Bush back in 1992 but his nomination died at the end of the Bush term. Of course Clinton didn't renominate him.... He was nominated by the current President Bush in 2001 and finally got out of committee by a 16-3 vote and confirmed by unamimous consent in the Senate in 2003.

I'm so giddy with excitement over Roberts, BUT, I'll save the celebration until he is CONFIRMED! You bet the rats aren't gonna bend over for this guy and be prepared for the worst MUD slinging we have EVER witnessed! Thomas confirmation will be seen as a picnic compare to what the evil dirty rats are going to pull on Roberts...ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!!!
Brit just introduced Fred Barnes, who has a HUGE smile on his face. He's just beaming. LOL

Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer two months ago. Wedding cancelled, lumps removed. Now undergoing chemotherapy. Don't know what the long-term prognosis is.
