I wouldn't be so quick to celebrate. Bush nominated a white for this pick, which means it is a virtual certainty that a non-white will be picked to replace Rhenquist. So say hello to Chief Justice Alberto Gonzalez.

This could work out well! Bush can appoint a female (Brown, Owen, or Jones) the next time. If the Rats filibuster this time, they'll lose because the nuke option will be invoked. That will remove it from their arsenal next time. If they don't filibuster this time, and try to "save" it for next time, they'll have a hard time justifying a filibuster against a woman when they didn't filibuster Roberts. Especially if the woman is replacing Rehnquist, a conservative male.

If this is the case, I was way off the scent trail....thinking he would nominate a female. Oh well, this should be a slam dunk for conservatives.

Does anyone know where he stands on the personal rights granted by the Second Amendment?

I don't like his position on illegal Searches in violation of the 4th Amendment.

My question, too. What's his stand on the 2nd Amendment?

There are reasons why it's better to win elections than to lose them.
