Few Islamic countries have taken steps to tackle the pandemic as the death toll continues to mount.
''I just pray that God ends my life before more symptoms show. I don't want to create problems for my family.''
Before his HIV-positive diagnosis in 2001, the Egyptian engineer who spoke these words thought that AIDS was a faraway disease that afflicted only foreigners. He had no idea that the global AIDS pandemic had reached his country. Now he says he would rather kill himself than be rejected along with his family by neighbors and friends, who regard HIV as synonymous with sin and shame.

hmmmmmm, I wonder if any of the homicide bombers have had aids? If they want to end it all partly because of that? Saves them shame, and they get to go to paradise.
"The disease is spreading quickly, and without proper prevention and treatment, many more Muslims will become infected and die."
Oh no!!!
Psssst ... are they a bunch of homos?
Ask any returning male soldier from Iraq if they heard the term "men are for sex, women are for babies" and you will get
1. A huge laugh
2. A query from the soldier "how did you know about that?"
3. And a feeling of "what else is the media not telling me about the world becuase its not PC"
You are exactly right. Early in the Afghanistan war, I read an interesting article by a man that had spent a lengthy career in the oil patch in Iraq and also in Afghanistan with companies searching for new sources. He wrote of that very thing (homosexuality) in those societies. He said that it will surface someday soon enough, looks like it's doing just that.
If the information in this article is true, then most likely a great number of innocent people in that region will suffer and die of AIDS just as they have done in Africa, and just as they have done here, as well as those who brought it upon themselves through their behavior. Fanatical Islamists are our enemies, and perhaps to some extent so-called moderates are too, but I would not want to encourage anyone here to become someone who rejoices in the death and misery of others. We'll kill them if we must, but let's not revel in it.
Fatal denial seems to be a congenital defect of these people.
Can't quite figure out my ambivilance.
Every cloud has a silver lining and every silver lining has a cloud within.
"kill them if we must, but let's not revel in it".
Couldn't happen to nicer people. You know the ones who practice the religion of peace with the home made bomb vests. I only hope the share the "wealth" before the die a long and painful death.
What happened to their Idol god????? Why isn't he protecting them???
Lock and load and make them glow!!!!!
Yep, and it usually involves some sort of blade.
Ping!
Well, didn't he get HIV from doing something sinful and shameful?
I thought the correct term was "a woman for children, a boy for pleasure." BOYS.
Could be their downfall.
What is Africa after all, but the Middle East without oil?
Mostly a civilization hundreds of years behind the times, with corrupt dictators running around all over the place and killing their own people.
All this and the Arab "innocence" regarding allah's omniscience. I can't tell you how many times I was told in Saudi that if it's dark, allah can't see what you're doing.
Used to get admonished around the souks about wearing a ballcap that "shielded my eyes from allah".
In my opinion, these people live a very sensual existence whereas they have no concept of anything outside the realm of their own five senses. Regardless of what the koran sez, the majority of the islamsits only memorize the verses, the crazy mullahs are the ones that explain it to them. And the mullahs, imans and royal families have a vested interest in keeping the masses ignorant and agitated about almost anything else besides their political/religious state of affairs.
The pilot of the plane on my first trip into Saudi had it right, when after he checked the cabin for arabs said: "Local time is 2 AM, set your watches back 500 years."
