After her second round of chemo, Laura bowed to the inevitable and got a buzz cut and a wig named Wanda. It's typical that the hair loss kicks in about 2 weeks after the first treatment. I know because I had my sixth chemo yesterday.
I'm so jealous that she still is so beautiful without much hair! I'm 48 and reasonably attractive but me without hair is not something anyone would want to see, believe me :-)
If anyone posts that picture of the one other than She Who Must Not Be Named, I am holding you responsible...especially if they post the one of her face on the orangutang body!!!
I have an odd shaped skull and if I lost my hair it'd cause my wife more despair than she's going through already!I look really bad with very short hair. I shaved my head hair and full beard when Sheryl died. It looked so bad it frightened not only little kids but a lot of adults.
Accepting this condition without getting down on yourself is really important.Sheryl accepted it far better than I did. I would hold it together long enough to take her to all the appointments and when with her at home then when she was out of sight Id lose it. Her main concern seemed to have been with me, and not herself. Without her strength and courage I doubt I would have made it.
Prayers for a speedy recovery for you.
Not that I'm crazy about her or anything.
You have Japanese hair?
I have a friend from church who just started her fourth round of chemo! Her cancer started as ovarian, she had surgery, this almost 3 yrs ago. This most recent bout has her worried I can tell. She has fluid build up in her abdomen this time. In less than 2 wks they've removed over 12 liters of fluid by paracentisis. She had to have a catheter for several months directly from her kidneys because of a tumor in the lower abdomen. She was able to have that removed about 4 months ago.
This woman teaches 4 yr olds Sunday School. I venture to say that in the past 2 yrs she probably didn't miss even 10 days of church. Her husband was called up and did a tour in Iraq.
She surprises us all. She said there is a new med to help with nausea and she was at church Wed after having a treatment.
She amazes us all.
This is a good website. http://www.acscsn.org/?popup=1
It's cancer survivor's network and has many encouraging stories on it.
I pray for the best for you!
There are few on FreeRepublic who don't know about your state. ;o)
I understand. lol
I agree. I mean, she is nice looking and all, but by no means gorgeous - neither is Ann Coulter. Of course, everyone has different tastes.
When my wife's hair began coming out in clumps, just after her second chemo, she was reluctant to shop for a wig - she kept looking at her remaining hair, and even stopped washing it because the loss upset her. I told my barber (female) about it and she offered to come to my house and shave her head, no charge! Marilyn relented, and went to the shop instead, and from that point on has had no embarassment whatsoever about her bare head. Lipstick and stylish glasses leave no doubt about her femininity.
Her last treatment will be in two weeks, so it should start to grow back in a couple of months. We don't know what color or texture to expect, so this could be interesting.
I have to say shes still sexy. ;) Get Well Laura!
I'm 48 and reasonably attractive
Darlin you have it all over Laura, hair or no.
Keep fighting, fight and fight some more, never give in.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
That saying was on the head of my hospital bed when I had
cancer IN 1970!
Freepers are with you, our prayers and thoughts surround you.
"Ingraham told listeners, on May 11, 2005, that her engagement to James (Jimmy) Reyes had been canceled, citing issues that came as a result of her diagnosis with breast cancer."
Ugh...a double whammy.....
Best wishes for your speedy recovery. My best friend went through all this 3 years ago and she's now cancer-free and doing wonderfully well. Hang in there.
I sent her this verse and hope you will like it too. It helped me through a serious illness 6 years ago.
*Do not look forward to the trials and crosses
of this life with dread and fear.
Rather, look to them with full confidence that, as they arise,
God to whom you belong, will deliver you from them.
He has guided and guarded you thus far in life,
Do you but hold fast to His dear hand,
and He will lead you safely through all trials.
Whenever you cannot stand,
He will carry you lovingly in His arms.
Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow.
The same eternal Father who cares for you today
will take good care of you tomorrow
and every day of your life.
Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give
you the unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace then and put aside all useless thoughts,
all vain dreads and all anxious imaginations.*
How about naming your wig Vicky, short for "Victory"?
Thanks :)
As you've observed with Laura Ingraham, and as is probably true with yourself, if you're truly beautiful, hair is just window dressing.
The real test of beauty is when it is left to stand on its own, without the crutches of 'makeup' and 'hairdos', and too few realize that it is truly from within. I have no doubt where Laura stands in that regard, and by the strength of your postings I feel that you would compare equably as well... |=<
She still looks great to us!
Boogie and Sheryl had your number:)
