After her second round of chemo, Laura bowed to the inevitable and got a buzz cut and a wig named Wanda. It's typical that the hair loss kicks in about 2 weeks after the first treatment. I know because I had my sixth chemo yesterday.
I'm so jealous that she still is so beautiful without much hair! I'm 48 and reasonably attractive but me without hair is not something anyone would want to see, believe me :-)

I agree with above. not Beautiful? sheesh.. I guess if you are going by Nicole Kidman standards, no one else.
My current girlfriend is the most beautiful woman on earth to me.. and trust me, she doesn't look like Nicole Kidman, and I don't look like Mel Gibson.. I love every wrinkle on her 52 year old face.
I agree that 1st Freedom's post was un-thoughtful and mean spirited... I wish that post would be sent to the cornfield... wish it away Billy (moderator)....

You must be a Helen Thomas or a Candy Crowley kind of guy.

Usually day two and three after treatment I'm tired and weak, but I get most of my energy back pretty quickly. That is what amazes me about Laura. On Monday she is her usual, full of energy, humorous self.

Every time you post about Sheryl, I tear up . . . it's so clear that you two had something amazing.
Sending a hug your way, and a prayer of comfort. (But not too close a hug, since I'm pretty sure she'd kick my ass for touchin' on her man.)

I don't know much about the treatments for cancer but I just got a letter from my Auntie as she just went through her operations and she doesn't have to have the Chemo but will take a pill for the next five years. I didn't know there were more than one way to fight it. How is it determined which treatment one would use? She had quite an extensive operation.

Great column, Congressman Billybob. And prayers for all those who are struggling through life.

>>Hope the rest of his life was long.<<
Pitifully, the great strides in cancer that have been made in the last 20 years were not quite early enough. Sometimes the good do die young and he was only with us for about a year after that (he was 52, I was 20). Now things are different and had he contracted the disease today (I am told) he would still be with us for all of his natural life.
But I'm not sad. He was a great man and taught me what to look for in a husband. Netmilsdad is a carbon copy of him and I know that he looks down on us with glee at the two darling girls we produced.
All the best to you, FRiend!

BTW, what is the real story with Laura's fiance (ex-fiance)? I don't think she ever said, so we should respect their privacy

Laura said the wedding was off (not postponed) and that she and her fiance remain friends. As far as I know, she never commented further or explained the reasons.

I guess it depends on the stage and if lymph nodes are involved. If we're speaking of breast cancer, which is my only experience.
