Hi, Gretchen. Do you see your mentee during the summer or if not, do you get any word how she is getting along? What pictures hit me hardest this evening were the ones of the Rwandan genocide memorial, as well as the ones of the little children HIV positive. Africa is such a sad place. I worked in Africa (Angola) for a while. The people are miserable. No one smiles in Angola. And it will take more than money to improve it. Jenna understands.

Thank you for your words but do not forget the others posters, OhioWFan; GretchenM; MJY1288; and Wolfstar plus of course the great warrior princess who faithfully posted the dose on her own and our creator Rintense.

I certainly agree though it is the best thread on FR and would go as far as saying the best place on the net.

LOL! I think it's an epidemic! It's just so much easier--and leaves more time to be here!

Say, are you just getting up or just going to bed? You had better get some rest before your dad gets home!

How is your Mum, by the way.

An excellent point from you to Gretchen. I like the way that Barbra has been out in Africa since May but no big fanfare of what she is doing. I know this is partly to protect her from the media glare but also it shows that the family in general are not looking for brownie points (do you understand that term?).

To: GretchenM; All
Thanks for faithfully standing duty here while holding up your family. We appreciate it.

It is a source of comfort and allows me to escape from the family situation for a few hours. Sorry I have jumped in and out this evening but have had several cat naps but now will get my head down again for a couple of hours because tomorrow I need to alert for collecting dad and sorting him out.

How sad Africa is and I agree it will take more than money to heal its problems I have know a few people who have lived or worked there for extended periods and many of them have loved the place and the people but have a deep sadness about the corruption etc.

Hi, Snugs! Wow, great pictures, esp. the ones of Laura and Jenna. Seeing them in the church with the children on their laps brought on a sudden watering of the eyes, for some reason ;p! The picture of Jenna with her hand on the child's face is very touching.

How sad Africa is The British colonies have turned out much better for the people than other colonies. Angola was a portugese colony and is a shambles. They expelled the Portugese and then had no skilled workers, then they asked some Portugese to come back. When I was there, Cubans were doing most of the skilled work, and now the Cubans have left. The Portugese did not teach the people or establish Institutions of government as the British did in Kenya.
