A Grander View of Life - The Recent Conference of the Baraminology Study Group
Occasional Papers of the Baraminology Study Group ^ | June 15, 2005 | Roger Sanders, editor

From the introduction by Todd Wood:

....

As we gather here once again to celebrate science, I think it's very important for us to take a look at the "hard sayings" that we struggle with. "In the beginning God created..." (Gen 1:1). "God created ... after their kind" (Gen. 1:21). "In that day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (Gen. 2:17). "Whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name" (Gen 2:19). "The serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field ... and he said" (Gen. 3:1). "All the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died" (Gen. 5:27). Who among us has the audacity to say that we truly understand these statements? These claims fly in the face of our most common experiences. A killer tree? A talking snake? A 969-year-old man? Why would anyone believe this?

Why? Because life with Jesus is better than life without.

The baraminology study group is a group of creationists working towards redeveloping biology in the light of scripture. These guys are well-qualified in their field, and the conference notes are very interesting. This conference took place last month, and, sadly, I had already used up my vacation for the year.

This should be of interest for both evolutionists and creationists, to see what it is that creationist biological researchers are working on. Many (most?, all? -- all the ones I'm familiar with, at least) of the researches are published secularly as well. Two of the ones I know of are Todd Wood who was part of the team that sequenced the rice genome, and David Cavanaugh, whose statistical biosystematic techniques have been secularly published.

Anyway, since most of the public literature on creationism is more "popular literature" it has led to the belief that there is no technical research being done by creationists. I decided to post this to show a little bit of the work being done in biology.

Why? Because life with Jesus is better than life without.

It is infinitely better to believe all of the Bible than none of it.
