NEW YORK -- A doctor who once cared for sick children at Don Imus' New Mexico ranch has sued the tart-tongued radio personality for slander, claiming he made false derogatory comments about him on his "Imus in the Morning" show.
Dr. Howard Allen Pearson says in court papers that on at least four days last year, Imus said Pearson "was one of the worst doctors in the world and did not care if children suffered."
Pearson's lawsuit says Imus apparently misunderstood the physician's response to a morning call to treat a child for pain in July 2004.
Pearson left the main house and began a quarter-mile walk to the infirmary. Because the nurse had said there was no emergency, Pearson declined a ride offered by Imus' wife, court papers say.
The doctor says he gave the child pain medicine, and she resumed normal activities. About 45 minutes later, Imus, armed with a gun and a knife, pulled up in his truck, jumped out and began yelling and cursing at Pearson, the papers say.

I'll watch it now and then if F&F has a boring or uniteresting guest on, but that's about it.

I'm with ya.... I've often enjoyed watching his show.... for the carnival atmosphere ;~D
I lost a LOT of the affection I had watching him beating up on Contessa Brewer (sp?) like a mean schoolyard bully, but I agree with you about the ranch.
To: freedumb2003
LOL. And a darn fine job your doing, too.

I am not a fan of Imus...I think he is a self-absorbed wahooo... but that said. I own a ranch and MOST of the time I am carrying a gun and knife when I travel around.
The knife is a Buck folder in a scabbard that I wear even when going to the grocery store. Comes in handy.
The gun is a .380 sig or a .357 colt in holster. Usually I carry the sig but if bears are roaming the property, I carry the colt.
The story did not say if the gun/knife were worn or carried.
If he carried them, he is a bigger jerk. If he was wearing them, it is not relevent that he had them.
He was probably pissed at the doctor's disregard for a child's pain. Now he is getting sued for opening his big yapper.

Normally I would think that one would accept a ride in order to just get from one place to the other much quicker. Considering Imus' response to what he considered dawdling on the doctors part it might have been well know to the Doctor that Imus' has not just a short fuse but a wacko fuse. I would make the assumption that I wouldn't want a ride from him or his family either!

His wife isn't the brightest bulb either. Mabee, the result of vegetarian diet? Study in England showed that vegetarian's brain shrink. Could be a classic example of tofu and rabbit food influenca.

It ain't pro wrestling when only one side is fighting, or when the subject is how ugly or fat she is, it's bullying.
I said I like watching him, usually, and the way he treated her was a moment I hope he isn't proud of.

I am probably in the minority here but I like Imus...
Me too. Much better and more informative than Katie Colonic and most mornings of F&F lately. If msnbc ever loses Imus they can close up shop AFAIC.

See 18.... FReepers shouldn't should know better than to get all tizzy about carrying guns or knives on a ranch.

If Imus is so concerned for the children why isn't there a vehicle ready and waitiing in case a doctor has to make the quarter-mile trek? Could've saved more time if he didn't have to wait for the I-Woman to drive out there.

"I think Imus will win this one. The Dr. should have taken the ride."
Really? Let's review Imus's statement.
"Imus said Pearson was called to treat "a 16-year-old girl from Afghanistan who had been up all night in abject agony and pain."
If that was true; why did Imus wait till the next day to summon the doctor? Surely, If Imus was that concerned, the doctor would have been ordered to be at the girls side that night as the doctor was only 440 yards away.
This is just another in a long line of staff treated poorly by Imus and then had their reputations damaged on air.
Review the story of Imus and his nanny: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/1130041imus1.html
My question is why is Imus at the ranch to begin with when he publically stated that he was allergic to the ranch in response to NY Attorney General's Office investigation into talk-show host using the 4,000-acre ranch for personal getaways.
Contradictory statement by Imus:
1) As to his holiday visits, he said, "I broadcast from here on Thanksgiving," said Imus. "I'm really trying to hide that," he quipped. Besides, he added, "I run the ranch, my wife and I run it. I could live out here every day if I felt like it." - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1369779/posts
2) I've got a penthouse apartment in New York and a mansion in Westport (Conn.). Why would I go someplace that I can't breathe," said Imus, referring to medications he takes to help with breathing while he's at the ranch." See - http://www.westportnow.com/archives/011104.htm

Mrs. Imus was also at the ranch house with the doc and offered him a ride... there was no 'waiting for the I-woman'.

I would make the assumption that I wouldn't want a ride from him or his family either! Then why would you work for him? I think if this is what the doc should have known, then he should have known to get into the truck!
