why isn't there a vehicle ready and waitiing in case a doctor has to make the quarter-mile trek? Could've saved more time if he didn't have to wait for the I-Woman to drive out there.

Ummm.... duh? Mrs. Imus was also at the ranch house with the doc and offered him a ride... there was no 'waiting for the I-woman'.

I didn't get that impression from reading the article. I though I remembered reading somewhere (can't find it now) the the medical staff had separate quarters and didn't stay in the main ranch house. I assumed that she offered to get him and take him to the girl.

My point still stands, though. There should be vehicles ready and waiting for the medical staff. Why does the wife have to get involved. It's not like he can't afford it. Shoot, he can just auction a couple off and have the listeners pay for it - like he did everything else.
