might have been well know to the Doctor that Imus' has not just a short fuse but a wacko fuse. I would make the assumption that I wouldn't want a ride from him or his family either!Then why would you work for him? I think if this is what the doc should have known, then he should have known to get into the truck!

Maybe he felt as if he was snookered? The story lacks a lot in details, including if the Doctor was being paid for services or donating them. The Doctor was going on the word of the Nurse that the case was non-emergent. The story does sound as if the child was in pain long before the doctor was notified. If the child was at home and taken to an ER she would have had to wait much longer than the time it took for a walk. Youngsters can handle pain much worse if they are exposed to folks who are freaking out which is what it sounds like Imus was doing.
