DAVENPORT, Iowa - Rep. Tom Tancredo started barnstorming through eastern Iowa on Thursday, talking immigration to religious conservatives and stepping up his flirtation with the 2008 presidential race.
The Littleton Republican arrived in Moline, Ill., then made the short drive across the Mississippi River into Davenport.
Iowa is home to the first presedential caucuses in 2008, and Tancredo wants the big-name contenders to take up his crusade to stop illegal immigration.
"If you don't approach this thing as if you are completely serious, you can't accomplish any goal," he said.

Tancredo isn't perfect.
As a Bushbot, you'll tollerate the complete sellout of the nation by the current president but whine about some minor issue with Tancredo.
So you'll blow off Tancredo for that minor foible, but vote for Bush, the biggest liberal since LBJ? Your hypocrisy is telling. You want another RINO GOP president who will continue to destroy this nation
Yes. It's nothing to be right if you can't win. So, we must save our vote for those who can win, even if they're wrong.
Some of those who criticize Cong. Tancredo, take issue with Cong. Tancredo's association with Team America PAC. Here is a link to a web page that lists the leadership PACs of potential 2008 presidential candidates: http://www.gwu.edu/%7Eaction/2008/leadershippac08.html . The web page also provides information about the receipts and disbursements of the PACS.
Bush, the biggest liberal since LBJ?
Oh, please.
I wouldn't care if he tatoo'd the statement on his forehead. His error is 10000X less important than encouraging the invansion and destruction of America. Your focusing on Tancredo's error while ignoring the sellout of the citizens by Bush is telling of what you want to continue.
Bush isn't running in 2008.
Irrelevant, My point is that many who hate Tancredo for his one bad comment are the same types that insisted conservatives vote for Bush even though he is far from perfect (actually liberal). The double standard is quite revealing.
I look forward to learning the identity of the candidate or candidates that those who attack Cong. Tancredo on a regular basis intend to support in the next presidential election.
Those who attack Cong. Tancredo on a frequent basis support rewarding illegal aliens by giving them legal status.
But by all means, keep sending him money. He'll certainly appreciate it, even if you have nothing to show for it. The only thing that would stop Tancredo from seeking the presidency is the possibility that he might actually win.
"Does being a third party wacko excuse a person from having the basic integrity not to take money from people by telling them he is trying to get elected president when he knows that he's only in it for his vanity or to promote his website organization?"
Perhaps you havn't noticed this...in past elections...third party candidates often bring up subjects for discussion (during debates) that the two party cartel havn't the political balls to bring into the light.
Keep sippin' the k00laid, amigo.
Like Buchanan's ad about a man choking to death on a meatball because the 911 emergency telephone number was bilingual? Third party presidential candidates are preordained losers and their supporters are current losers.
What subject did your third party loser bring up in a debate in 1980?
I actually heard that ad years ago. It was vile.
About as stupid as it gets.
"Those who attack Cong. Tancredo on a frequent basis support rewarding illegal aliens by giving them legal status."
You might have a point there.
"So, we must save our vote for those who can win, even if they're wrong."
Great sarcasm!
"...Bush, the biggest liberal since LBJ?"
When it comes to spending and loose borders, you make a great point. He even increased NEA funding!
>> What a stand-up guy.
Well, you know, I think the charges that Tancredo is a racist are "trumped up" but if he resigned from the House, "that's probably not the worst idea." <<
AmishDude, you seem have a problem with being able to read the WHOLE sentence, so I empathized the part you skipped over so you can be more accurate next time. Tancredo NEVER said Delay should "resign from the House" no matter how much the Tancredo haters want to repeat liberal talking points over and over.
The liberal media wants us to think Henry Hyde said "Clinton's impeachment was payback for Nixon", even though Hyde never said that either.
I remember the same rants from the goofy freepers who were defending Trent Lott and began screaming how if Lott stepped aside as MAJORITY LEADER, that would somehow "cause a Democrat like Mike Espy to fill his seat!!!" Well, gosh, last time i checked, Lott ended up stepping aside as MAJORITY LEADER and he's STILL in the Senate indefinitely Really, I don't know why understand why you guys think stepping aside from a leadership position means a person "Resigns" from Congress. I haven't seen anything this wacky since a Dem op-ed piece said if Clinton was impeached, it would "make Newt Gingrinch President". Facts and logic are obviously not the strong point of characther assisins.
Dane says Tancredo agrees with the liberal Democrats and "backstabbes" Delay. Here's what Tancredo ACTUALLY said about the charges:
"All of the charges against Tom DeLay I have seen to date lack merit. I believe they are being leveled in the hopes of bringing him down, and with him, the Republican majority."
-- Tom Tancredo
Gee, let me know when here Howard Dean go on TV and say all the charges against Delay "lack merit" and being are trumpted up. THEN you could rightfully say Dean and Tancredo are on the same page I'd say it'll be a cold day in hell when that happens.
Bayourod's ENTIRE "Tancredo = Buchanan" schtick is based around that Tancredo HAPPENS to agree with Pat on this one IMMIGRATION issue, and that Pat's sister is assisting Tancredo in pushing the immigration issue.
Since I've seen only "conservative" Bayourod hijack immigration threads to push his illegal alien apologist views (Rather than see ever see him push pro-life views on a thread about about abortion, pro-gun views on a 2nd amendment thread, or any other conservative position), it would probably be pretty accurate to call Bayourod a Vicente Fox puppet (Vince is another self-described "conservative" who never says anything about conservative isseus but instad pushes his open borders views), but being accurate is too much fun. We should should use Bayourod's own criteria for "sock puppets"
Going by that rule, Perhaps we should start insisting Bayourod is a "Harry Browne sock puppet" because they HAPPEN to have IDENTICAL views on immigration. It doesn't matter if they disagree on any other issue (just how Bayourod doesn't care if Tancredo's view on Israel, the civil war, tax cuts, etc. are NOTHING like Buchanan's)
BAYOUROD IS A HARRY BROWNE SOCK PUPPET. SPREAD THE WORD!
No, cowardly is calling someone a "sock-puppet" when you have NO evidence to support your own position other than the fact they happen to beallies with that person on ONE SINGLE ISSUE. Poor widdle baby, forced to defend your little smears against Tancredo and unable to come up with any proof, eh?
Pat's "sock puppet" in Washington has wholly different views and agenda on him on a whole host of issues, for instance, he certainly would NOT join Pat in attacking Israel if Pat wanted him to. Tancredo and Buchanan's careers are totally independnant of each other and have ONLY worked together on immigration (as you noted, for rougly a year). Tancredo was a successful, self-made state senator and Congressman long before he even heard of Pat Buchanan.
Though since you seem to be a single issue open borders guy yourself, and judge Republcians SOLELY on whether they defy their own platform and promote illegals, this is not surprising.
Anyone who thinks Bayourod is not a Harry Browne sock puppet is blind.
